968 Engtine Rebuild 1

The seller said the last time he did a compression test, it was something like 183, 184, 184, 185. I am going to check it again once i receive the motor. What is considered normal for these motors?

hmm.. maybe i should think about redoing the rings. but then again, from what i've learned, as long as all cylinders are within close range, it should be good since not all compression testers read equally. any thoughts on that?

lol - well, that's what i had before i pulled the head, but after all that has gone on, i'll go back again, but i swear i checked it with 2 different testers and got the same readings, both read over 200 across the board - one mac the other matco - we even had a conversation about it - maybe i'm losing my mind?

but i can check again next week

Flash,

Wow, 210 sounds very high, especially if you did the test cold (which I seem to remember from an earlier thread is how you do it). I thought I heard or read that readings in the 180's are solid, but I won't swear to it.

solid, but i have not seen below 190 on any hole in my engine, even before the head swap, and 3 out of the 4 were 195 - that one i did a number of times over the years - i'll check it again though probably next week - i'm slammed this week
