Back up lights/reverse lights
#1

Do the manual cars have back-up lights? I've never noticed before but the alleged back-up lights on mine don't come on. So do we have them on the manual cars? If so, I guess I have some blown bulbs or a fuse to chase down.

YES! you have back up lights. I would start with the bulbs. They are easy to get at.

Also check to make sure the bulb sockets are free of corrosion.

There is a reverse switch which you check also (I do not know its location perhaps someone can chime in).

There is a plug for the switch on the passenger side of the tranny just above the CV joint area - make sure that is plugged in.

That last one makes sense. I just had my pinion bearing replaced, maybe they forgot to plug it back in. Anyway, I will start with the bulbs and work from there.

I had one go bad on my 944S, if it was plugged in the lights stayed on all the time.

Well as I was waxing my rear (bumper that is) today I happend to glance under the car and saw this hanging down from the passenger side of the car.

Seeing as we had just talked about this, a light went off in my head and I figured out that this was why my backup lights were not coming on. Anyway, the plug is located directly above the CV joint on the passenger side, just like Eric said. Here are some photos of the location and what it should look like.

All in all, a pretty simple fix and everything works fine now.
