Melva is a big fan of Tobin James wines (Very high alcohol content in their Zinfandel, drank a Fat Boy this week 15.6%)

Ha, I knew the TJ logo would be recognized !
I had several of those patches affixed to various casual clothes.. great design logo, IMO. But I don’t care all that much for most of their wines, although agree on the Zin. I like huge bodied, large alcohol content wines, so that one is very suitable.

At 15.6 % it is approaching jet fuel grade. I have never been a fan of high alcohol wines. They are popular because wine tastes sweeter as the alcohol increases, but at about 15 to 16 % the alcohol overpowers the fruit flavors in most wines. You can get away with high alcohol in fruit forward reds while they are young, but I don't think that they age well.

Hi Jay - I've sent a couple of PMs to "admin" but have had no response; maybe lost in the mele. It's about uploading .wav or other audio files to "that sweet sound". Given the title of the forum it seems such files should be permitted, any ideas what is wrong? Thanks, Robert

Taste is very subjective, I usually like the content in wines to be around 12-14 ..I don’t think I’ve ( knowingly ) had a 15%+ wine, but not sure. Again, all up to individual preferences, I don’t like anything lighter than a Cabernet Sauvignon, and will not touch a white wine to save my life ..regardless of its alcohol content .

Back to Covid-19 and cars .. there’s a parallel thread on the Maserati forum with people chiming in about their activities during lockdown ; more than a few said they’re concerned about driving their cars to shop for groceries, etc. because they’re sensitive to so many people that are in dire situations, no jobs, no income, and seriously struggling just to make ends meet . and seeing someone roll around in a $ 200 K car is really in bad form / poor taste. Wondering if the same perception may apply to 968s.. most people have no clue this is an old and inexpensive car, they may view it as an expensive exotic, thinking the owner is an insensitive prick , flaunting their car .. of course, if you don’t have another more “benign” car you can drive around, what can you do ?!

Insensitive prick. Hmm. I’ve been very careful driving the cars. The weather has made that easy but of course it’s starting to get nice and the urge is overwhelming. I mentioned my concerns previously some where here and I’m still going to be careful. A ride out in the middle of nowhere could be possible but groceries. Sounds like an ideal time to get keyed.
im concerned about taking my cars on a two hour jaunt to Max. Ahh yes officer I’m delivering groceries to my dear old mom and taking her car to get repaired. Honest I am. Since our civil rights have disappeared under the guise of safety and every state and town has its own interpretation of lockdown and necessary what’s a car guy to do. Lock and load.

Haha, I’m sure law enforcement has heard every excuse in the world why you’re out of your “ allowed zone “. And it’s not as if you’ll be randomly stopped to check if you’re violating stay in place rules, but if you get pulled over for any other traffic infraction , you can bet that’ll be also investigated. A coworker had to drive from San Jose to Los Angeles two weeks ago, to help her mother with a medical issue, and although she was never stopped , the biggest problem was that not a single place in 400 miles ( grocery stores, gas stations, or any other places open ) had their restrooms open. Shut down, no exceptions allowed. So if you plan a long drive, better keep some TP in the trunk ..not that fertilizing nature on the side of the road is all that bad ..

Note to self .... "must buy camouflage TP for longhaul dump in the bushes" .... I don't want to be shot in the butt by some overenthusiastic hunter, mistaking my white paper for the flashing white tail of a deer .....

The short answer is, if you can't load it, it will not be loaded here. We restricted a lot of types of files so the server doesn't get weighed down.
There's really no reason for any large sound files here, unless you're showing off your exhaust system or want to identify a rattle.
Sorry,
Jay

Okay Jay, thanks for the answer, a 968 band might have been fun but I understand "server overload".
Cheers and have a good day,
Robert

Well here we go, the restrictions are pretty much off and we wait to see what happens. Here in southern France, without a permit we can drive 100Kms from home as the crow flies, hold gatherings at home of up to 10 people, and the schools are starting to open. Shops and markets have continued throughout, but with personal distancing and at a very slow pace; not a complaint, just an observation. There has not been a single instance in our vicinity, which is great except I assume it means there is also no immunity. But looking on the plus side we are, at last, able to have friends around for dinner tonight.
Good luck to us all as we emerge from this very unexpected experience. I don't know about anyone else, but this forum has been a very pleasant addition to life in confinement, so I thank Jay and the original site developers/mangers for the existence of 968Forums, and I heartily thank all you contributors for taking the time to share your experiences and knowledge, and maintaining/sharing your sense of humour.... onward and upwards!
Cheers to all

Hey, I just realized that Monday ( tomorrow ) is a holiday in the U.S. Yay ! , we get to stay at home that day and take a break ...oh, never mind. :glare:

Well happy holidays anyway, yet another opportunity for more painting/ decorating/ yard sweeping

In the UK they are starting "take away" bars .... The photos show people queuing (appropriately distanced) at a roadside bar, getting their beer, and then walking away with it...... however, it is illegal to drink in general public space, so are the police going to be issuing thousands of fines...is this a cunning plan to make up for lost taxes??

Same in Pa. they are allowing take out drinks. You have to keep them in the back seat or trunk. Politicians are as useless as tits on a boar. Brains and thought process don’t occur in a politicians mind. Helping bars and restaurants is an import goal. Increasing drinking and driving is not.
