Like that one MCL!
now we are in tier 3 restrictions, and been told we can only mix 3 families indoors, I am now not going to see my grand kids over Xmas, that really has *issed me off, it the stupidity of the majority of the masses that have ruined for most
I am angry at them today!!!
I understand attendance at funerals is exempt, as are protests, so buy a goldfish, overfeed it until it goes belly up and then hold a religious theme memorial service for it, inviting the entire family , friends, as well as anyone who wishes to protest the untimely death of a pet.. what ?! it’s a perfectly legal loophole , B)
If you say the magic words any type of behavior is authorized and legal. We must all learn how to protest in the democratically progressive and accepted manner.
Weather has changed up here and we told Covid to take a hike!

Well good luck with that, I just read that BC is experiencing a surge in cases whilst Canada has been locked down. Here in France we have gone into lockdown3 so I shall attempt to finish the DIY that didn't get done during lockdown2.
Latest effort is the front door that took far longer than expected to remove the old paint....

Looks great. I marvel at the worldwide differences in Covid responses. We had how wonderful Europe managed Covid shoved down our throats for a year by our media. Yet that doesn’t seem to be the case at all. Say what you want about trump but warp speed got us the vaccine in under a year. Brussels dithered in ordering it to its now great dismay. Infections are rising here but the vaccine rollout is doing well. Or so they tell us. The disconnect between what is reported and what is happening seems to be worldwide. Talking heads and experts contradict themselves daily. I feel for those who continue to be under lockdowns and constraints. Regardless of the efficacy of the moves it comes with great cost at a compounded rate. My Mom has received her second shot and now after a year is contemplating coming out of her personal lockdown. At 85 she has lost a year of normal living. As have we all. How come no one is accountable for this?
Who are you going to make accountable, your government, the Chinese, the idiots that never stopped international travel and allowed it to spread?
Just who, we have lost family to it, lots of others we know have, one friend lost two sisters and her brother in a week
Just who is going pay, that would be all of us, financially, emotionally, and it will be 20-30 years before we recover
And the source of the pandemic remains hidden behind bullshit and political manoeuvring
It will happen again, hopefully not in my or my childrens lifetime
“ The disconnect between what is reported and what is happening seems to be worldwide. Talking heads and experts contradict themselves daily. “
“ And the source of the pandemic remains hidden behind bulls*** and political maneuvering “
So true !
I'm not sure Europe has done well at all, and nor have they necessarily convinced their populations about the benefits of uptake. UK seems to have jumped to the front and report more than 50% of the population has received the first jab, whilst here in our commune (us and surrounding villages) my wife and I received our first jab ahead of time because others don't want it. It's all very well me having the present vaccine, but if others don't and Covid continues to circulate, then it will mutate and I'll be back to square one again
As for who pays, I cannot comment, especially after reading Waylander's account of someone losing two sisters and a brother; unimaginable. There has, however, undoubtedly been a deal of politics involved and likewise undoubtedly it has cost lives.
As for my door, thanks Rap

I prefer varnish as opposed to paint. Granted it shows all the imperfections, especially with my hack work, but with an old house I feel that the varnish provides protection against the elements whilst showing the door's history..... and nobody knows which were my mistakes and who did the others
Covid-19 is a corona virus just like the common cold virus and the common flu virus. It will mutate, mutation is a virus survival mechanism. Very unlikely that it will be eradicated entirely, so it may well be that in addition to a yearly flu vaccination we may also be receiving a Covid-19 booster. We did succeed in eradicating small pox, measles and a few other childhood infectious disease by mandatory vaccination of school age children. That success is ever so slowly being undone by anti-vax crowd.
Those who get vaccinated and get boosters, should weather whatever the future holds, those who don't will not do so well.
I still have my old WHO yellow vaccination record. There used to be a time when you could be denied entry to a country if you lacked certain vaccinations. I got my WHO card when I entered military service. We were vaccinated against every possible major disease. Maybe the idea of a COVID passport isn't such a bad idea. No vax, no travel outside of your home country.
In 100 % agreement with Chris re everything posted above .
While the passport has some sense behind it I wonder about the govt requiring more ID with our info on it. This is another portal of personal info to steal. Counterfeit passports will abound . For the greatest issue of all times oh white middle aged men of privilege, how is this requirement not racist? If requiring ID to vote is how is this not. As a matter of public health it still doesn’t overcome this hurdle. Mind you I’m all for presenting ID. Yet oh wise ones, youse peoples must admit as you look down from your lofty heights of privilege that it is a hot ticket item?
Waylander I’m sorry for your loss. The question of course seems to have no answer yet I wonder why. I suspect we may never know and really be no closer to dealing with this type of health issue.
I'm swapping over to this thread from Winemaking Oregon.... and mindful of Rap's comment..... Treading warily .... We have good friends who are anti-vaxxers. We just don't have that conversation any more as it would eventually ruin our friendship. They have a certain faith (or in this case a lack of faith) and no discussion that the world we live in is largely poliomyelitis et al free exactly because of vaccination programs, makes any difference. Unfortunately technological advances have added fuel to the conspiracy theory fire in that the smallest ICs will now fit into the type of syringe used for taking blood / delivering serum.
Very difficult, the right of self-determination vs the right not to be affected by someone else's rights ......
Meanwhile I had hoped to visit family in UK in the near future, but unfortunately Boris is engaging in schoolyard politics, singling out France as the only Amber list country from which people still need to isolate. Complete "we follow the science " nonsense, it's just Etonian chums vs Macron's Lycee Henri-IV chums

From my friend in the UK , where the current shortages are no laughing matter , and yet ..humour ( aka humor ) prevails ..

CNBC (Financial News) headline this morning...Is Energy the new Lumber?
I hope not as we are preparing to embark on a 10,000 mile journey around the US.

Remember the 70’s gas lines and allotment days? The fallout while not quick was a dramatic political realignment. Now we all know politicians don’t think or remember history but gasoline is a third rail. Wow to those that touch it.

is that comparable to the Irish couple Michael Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzmichael ?
It is to be sure
Like I said, it's great to be back!!
