I trust the Aussies amongst us have leaped to attention, hand on heart!
Lovely !

And yes, you might have had the Aussies at green and gold.... right up until the point of what looks like a very short beak ( birth defect ? ) kiwi bird, and then you maybe have just rounded up the NZ-landers as well ...
This thread is off and on but it is being reported on more than one site that the wet markets in China are reopening. China reported that the wet markets were the cause of the transmission of the disease. So why would they allow this type of market to reopen? Perhaps the markets were never the cause. Regardless they have caused previous problems which China allegedly instituted reforms and laws  to control including licensing and health inspections. Obviously not well enforced.

I’m of the mind that China can not be allowed to sit at the table with the community of nations until they outlaw wet markets. The world needs to be satisfied that they are in compliance before they are readmitted. The borders are already closed. Outlawing travelers from China would be relatively easy to do. Those countries that refuse to join in this condemnation and health protection would have their citizens included In the mandate. What would this compromise? Terrorist nations or countries on the hook to China?

Seems extreme I know but then so does a world pandemic. Play by the rules or suffer the consequences.

Completely agreeing with Chris. And no, this cannot be labeled as xenophobic. Nations need to take ownership of well documented problems they cause, and if a certain aspect of their culture needs to change to make that happen, tough s**t ! Do it, or don’t complain about being shunned and barred by the international community .
As my wife frequently retorts to the sentiments on which you are reporting above, SARS/Ebola/Covid19 ...... "Just because it is part of your culture doesn't mean it's a good idea in present day civilisations.  Cultures change; once we were cannibals, once there was no such thing as murder ..... it's time to change!"  And I suspect the cancellation of a few government contracts may create the desired effect.  Having said that, I worked in Singapore during the 1990s when the "slash and burn" land clearance by Indonesian and Malay farmers covered the region with ash for weeks on end.  The Indon govt promised it would stop ...... next year, same again!

But somehow these "cultural practices" leading to global loss of life have to be stopped.

On the lighter side, you have to love this .....

Waylander I've been scouring 944/968 pics to see what I could find.  It is amazing given the myriad of photos and blogs available, there's almost no shots of the foot well setup. Try this diagram....

Arrow 16 (which isn't itemised!) looks a lot like it could be the micro-switch and a little bracket.  If that doesn't make sense then leave them a question.

My wife Alexandra got a giggle out of that .... she is Swiss!

Good observation Dan, and I did live and work in both NZ and Australia for many years.... so the next bedroom is featuring silver (NZ national emblem is a silver fern)

However that flightless bird you mention is on a wall hanging from the Middle East ..... I'm not sure the artist/weaver had ever seen ponds and water foul ... so here's the rest of it .... (and I see it has loaded sideways)

No doubt my wife will make up a collage of photos of the "silver room" which I shall post in due course .... ie when my ankle has healed Sad

Yup, I have an all-blacks jersey with an embroidered silver fern on it . ( not one of those cheap replicas with printed stuff on it ) Big fan .

( but off topic, sorry ).

My man!  Not off-topic at all!  The All Blacks fit right into any theme; well tuned, big engine, great handling, tough exterior, sleek lines (well, maybe not that one).  I had a house just North of Auckland for 25 years as my base, loved it!  It was a tough decision to retire to Southern France.  However, never look back, here the weather is generally great, the wine is good, and they play rugby; so no complaints.

Okay, back to COVID19 ......Is anyone still working??   If you are a medico, a delivery driver, or stocking shelves, I take my hat off to you ..... you are keeping the world going around
Heres what all states , counties, cities SHOULD be doing right now .. actually should have started weeks ago..

Well Macron has just announced the "confinement" continues until at least May 11th. Luckily we still have decorating to do, but I have to say that another 4 weeks of this is going to get tedious. Maybe he is waiting to see what happens in Spain and Italy as they are letting some sections back to work. Actually in Spain it's construction workers, maybe they've seen Dan's notice above!

Cheers all, have a good week Smile
Tedious? It’s not tedious now? As a baseline this looks somewhat similar to retirement. Glad I decided not to retire two years ago for many reasons now. Unfortunately we need to do what is appropriate until the testing issue and availability gets resolved. At least it’s not the middle of winter with cold and snow on the ground. Started up the 968’s on Sunday just to let them run. Love the sounds although they are vastly different. I try to remember that many have it much worse than myself and I suspect many of us here.

Well, going into the 5th week know, I am determined more than ever not to retire anytime in the near foreseeable future .. even when this crisis is over, I still dont have any hobbies which would occupy a sufficient part of my day ( golf, etc. ) to make staying at home less boring. Tennis or soccer or biking only burns a couple of hours ..and then what ?! Nah, Ill keep working for as long as Im able , or until they get rid of me ..
I would be prepared for another 2 months, thousands are still getting infected every day and thousands are dying

A fast return to normality could start it off all over again

And the Chinese woman that let it out is loosing sleep apparently

Thats damn funny !!

To those that drink in order to enjoy the passage of locked in time ( not that anyone needs a reason to drink ..), the below pictured beer & vodka combo is a killer. Dont use as a chaser , drink them 14 days apart ..

Retirement doesn't mean having no goals or activities, it's just another phase of life. Getting old is a nuisance, and replacement hips have put an end to any sporting endeavor, but in itself retirement is great, I highly recommend it! Don't work yourselves into the grave!

And as for tedious, yes it's tedious now, but I have a British passport, we understate everything :/
