What a day!



Out the door at 6:30 this morning to drive 150 miles to Eldersburg, MD. There were over 100 cars and 150 people crowded into the parking lot at the local Safeway/Starbucks.



We were signed up for the "Shakers and Movers" category (Naturally) and we drove 62 of the most challenging back roads I have ever been on...Melva and I in the only 968 out of the 100+ cars...what a rush!



Happy to report that we and our 968 showed extremely well, the Cayman S behind me comment that he started to follow my lines through the curves, and his driving "felt better" : )



A fun filled lunch at the Cozy Inn in Thurmont, MD folowed. Boisterous, freindly conversation.



170 miles to home...379 total for the day...24.37 MPG



Folks, the people of Ches Region are absolutely great enthusists! Warm, spirited and man do they love their Porsches.



The leader of the pack drives a 964 "Roadster" Cabrio (one of only 250)..by the way, Ferrari 360 and Testarossa showed up for the run..I don't know how they did since they were so far behind me...LOL



Anyway, if anyone happens to read this, thanks to all of you nice folks, can't wait to do it again.

Sounds like a great day...sorry I couldn't join in. I haven't got the 968 out yet as I have a few things to do prior to getting it back into semi daily driving duty - mainly an oil change! I almost got that far today but spent most of the day dicking around with light bulbs and fuses in the 944. I did get my truck washed and started cleaning some wheels though so it wasn't a total loss.



The one run I did make with this group was great fun and roads were challenging, but as Jay mentioned, our 968's can hold their own. I know they'll do it again in the fall, so I'll make that one for sure!



Jay - if you were the only 968, I guess smokiemon didn't make it? Maybe we can get a decent 968 turn out at one of these events...

Sorry I missed out, had some maintainence issues to work out. I think they have 8 drives scheduled this year. I will post the next one. Should be middle of may.

Ken knows how to do it!

The next run is down near Annapolis I believe..April 20th...not sure if we will make that one or not.



Dennis, distinguished his "Roadster" (and it was badged "Roadster") vs. RS America Cabriot by additional luxury features not found on the RS America. Either way, It is a very beautiful car.

I'll chime in on how much fun Chesapeake's events can be, as I drove several of them last year.



The internet allows us to easily look at nearby PCA regions and their events calendars, particularly Chesapeake, Delaware, Riesentoter, and Schattenbaum. Having driven in events held by all of those regions, I can tell you that if you attend, you'll run into a lot of nice people and you'll probably be the only 968.



If you enjoy driving on challenging roads, please consider the Chesapeake events especially. Also, there's an upcoming fun run to be held by Riesentoter on April 19th (it's their "Spring Fling")...the link to their website is http://www.rtr-pca.org.

Thank you Jerry, you are right...



I drove several of these events last year, the first at Jerry's invitation. There always lots of beautiful Porsches and scenery. Wayne runs a super event!



My particiaption will be dependant on new rubber...My car is going into RS Barn this week for 5 year/15k belts rollers...standard maintenance..you know like header (shhh don't tell Melva), etc... I need to put ne tires on, haven't made my choice yet, but I'm looking for pretty aggressive handling.
