Airbag light on
#1

Suddenly my airbag light is on. I bypassed the steering wheel bag per Dave G.'s DIY perhaps 6 months ago.

Suggestions?

A fault on the passenger side?

So if I go to the dealer's will they freak about no driver's bag? (I never go to them, but expect my mechanics won't want to get into airbag stuff.)

Either a genuine fault in the system or the resistor came loose. At any rate, you will either need to get the light reset at the dealer, or snip the wire at the control box to turn it off permanently.

Does the airbag still deploy if the control box believes there is a fault?

According to the Tech Section on pca.org, once the light is on, the airbag is deactivated, and the mechanic at the dealer agreed. My light came on and I just had the memory reset at the dealer, one half hour labor.
