Aftermarket Oil Cooler
#1

I'm looking for an aftermarket oil cooler for my track car (924S with 968 engine). Finding the oil "radiator" has not been a problem, but finding the oil lines to the block has been. I've seen OE lines but they go for > $400. Any suggestions would be welcome.

try contacting a race shop - they should have a lead for you

if that fails, contact the manufacturer direct, but be prepared to have the specs you need ready (length, diameter, fittings, etc)

i used to get my hoses made at a little shop in the bay area, but they are gone now - i'm sure there are other shops that make them though

There is a fellow who makes an additional oil cooler for the 924/944 series.

Go to German Parts & Restoration

I put a larger oil cooler on my 968RS but it was a pain. The stock oil lines really are too small for a mocal style cooler. I had to use a 951 oil filter block and tap 12AN fittings in.

Contact BAT for more options. wwwbatinc.net

We've put in some nice gauges into my new dash that might be relevant for you. The original gauge cluster has been removed, and we're going with separates.

Among other things, I will have a true Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, and Coolant Temp rather than 'tick marks'.

We're using the Autometer Carbon Fiber short sweep electric series gauges.

I'll let you know what temp's we get this weekend at Limerock.

At the track this weekend the car ran very well...except for a cracked rim center on the second day, there were no issues.

Oil temp was 180 F

Water temp was 210 F

We're running without the A/C condensor, so cooling air is going right to the radiator.

We have the larger turbo intercooler duct, in the front bumper, allowing air to the I/C, and an exhaust vent for the I/C, mounted in the hood.

Jason,

Can you post some pics of the guages and front end? I'd like to see what you've done.

Tim,

We're going up to Watkins Glen this weekend...Friday-Sunday. I"ll get my son to take some shots with his digital camera, and post them here next week.
