RS Barn cat back vs BB sound?
#61

Hi all

My experiances are a bit different:

I went from stock system with cat delete over Cargraphic-Catback with 200-cell metal-cat to Cargraphic Catback / 100-cell cat and finally added the RSbarn header.

Lowering backpressure by cat-delete or catback always gave me significant torque from 2000-3400rpm while loosing a bit in the higher revs.

Cargraphic CB and 200-cell Cat made good performance up the revs, no dips, but not as much torque down lo as the following / later versions

Cargraphic CB and 100-cell Cat made a big dip at 3500rpm while giving more torque at low and only minimal losts at high revs.

The header added, the dip was gone but there were only slight gains at high revs.

Now I use RSB header, 100-Cell-Cat in stock housing and Cargraphic CB. Further a personal solution for the Airbox / Airintake which seems to work well together with the exhaust.

The car has now gOOd torque at low revs, no dips and now more performance up high due to the intake. Using the G-Tech Pro RR, it takes the car some 5.7sec from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) with a boringly long 0.4sec of shifting-time and full trottle lift while shifting. A fast shifter and good starter will take the car in under 5.5sec to 100 which I feel is not bad for a full caged CS...

Kunz,

Just one question, at the moment I am running with the stock cat & header. The centre muffler (resonator) is replaced by the cargraphic testpipe(it sits right behind the cat, see picture), within 4 weeks I should receive my cargraphic rear muffler....any ideas how the car will perform with these mod`s? or what should I change to get the best performance?

Thank you in advance,

Rutger

Very nice Kunz, are you having a sale on lightly used cats? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

when you determined these changes in torque and power, did you dyno them, or are you just going by seat of the pants, or did you time rev launches?

Flash:

I had some dynos made for

- Cargraphic CB and 200-cell Cat

- Cargraphic CB and 100-cell Cat

- RSB header, 100-Cell-Cat in stock housing and Cargraphic CB

The solution with the additional airbox / intake mod was only messured with the GTech Pro RR based / compared to the the baseline without the intake mod...

i'd love to see those - i would be interested to see how the curves changed relative to what i saw - i'm still trying to figure out the velocity and tube size equation

how did you do a 100 cell cat in a stock housing?
