968 3D Crystal Model
#1

don hassenbein had a 968 crystal model in his collection. it was basically a clear block with a 3D image of a 968 inside of it.

i wanted it, and he said he would sell it to me. 2 days later he sold it to somebody who bought his entire collection. that guy then contacted me so i could buy it. he played games, and jerked me around, trying to get somebody else to pay more for it. the price went from $100 to don, to up over $250 to whomever bought it.

sucker

i can get this done, in both hardtop and cab form, for less then what don wanted for it.

so, who else wants one?

i don't have a pic of it yet, but here is a shot of a similar item:

When I first looked at the topic I thought it said 968 crystal meth. Whew.

What size block would be used? I have one with a very detailed machine tool "inside" that I got from a German manufacturer. Very cool.

So, are you talking 100 or 250, or somewhere in between?

Yeah, I was confused for a second too with "Breaking Bob" and his crystal

I'd take a coupe if it wasn't sent UPS! Although I could have it sent to WA if Langley was in on the deal, he's such a nice guy.

the 3D image is now being created. i should see a proof at the beginning of the week (when i will also have real pricing). it will then be 5-7 days for the prototype to be made. once i have that, and see that the quality is what i want, then i will go forward and get the rest made. that remaining process will take about 2 weeks.

so, these should be here well in advance of xmas.

woohoo!!!

once i get everything together, i'll put it up on the D1R site so everybody can order it.

this is so cool. i should have done this years ago. and to think, had it not been for don, who sold it out from under me, and especially the butthead who decided not to sell it to me for the price he listed on RL (a direct violation of the RL terms and conditions by the way), i would not be doing this. sometimes it just takes a burr under a saddle to get things moving.

so far, i think i can put this out for about $79 each (plus shipping). i have to wait for the rendering costs to come in, but it looks pretty manageable so far.

i can't wait to see the screen shot of the prototype

TWO COUPES FOR ME . Kudos flash for taking this project on, a silver lining in store for all of us , ironically stemming from what sure sounds like childish ( I would even call it unethical ) conduct by a ..well, see above post, LOL

I think the model, years produced, and total number of coupes and/or cab's would add to the appeal, and maybe even educate a few folks about these under rated cars.

I may well be interested in a Coupe version, but as always, shipping to the UK may make it prohibitive.

With regards to text, perhaps the Logo outline, with just "Porsche 968" within it?
