Another post that has hurt the pocket.



As per my previous post, I am getting the engine re-built at the moment. There is a part at the front of the engine (94410517908) which is made of magnesium and has warped. Porshce have a new part 94410517909 which is three times the price. The part is called "Toothed Belt Covering Rear".



Has anyone had to replace with item previously or have a lead on where one can be obtained (that is in good condition) for a reasonable price.



Perahps, I should have just got an engine built in the USA - it will most likely work out cheaper.

Ahh, a common problem. The timing covers front and rear are the same part number as the S and S2 - 944 105 189 04/08(09). The part is $101/$1155(!) (new) from Autoatlanta. You could also try Douglas Valley wreckers in the UK - though you may struggle to get a good used one as they all seem to crack over time because of the Magnesium construction or they get sold complete with the engine. Alternatively you could try a WTB in the other Porsche forums.
