With a 20k budget, a DB7 is indeed the other choice which comes to my mind, as well.  But looks only, handling doesnt match the 968.   Maybe a Jaguar XK .  But same as above consideration.

I recall some here ( including me ) were fans of the NSX, but good luck finding THAT anyway near a 968 price point . 

I could be perfectly happy with an early Boxster S. Ive looked at two that had the same colors as mine (Midnight Blue/Classic Grey) with hardtops and ~110K for ~ $10K. And a white one with 40K w/HT for $15K.

None of them had their IMS bearing done, but I figure with what Id like to get out of my Cab, thered be plenty left over to get that done.

<p style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(85,85,85);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">The new Tesla S Plaid :   Reviews are just about everywhere,  and they’re not all particularly good, but one thing that stands out other than being the fastest ( mass production ) car :  a 9.4 sec. Q-mile time .   Woof ! 



An excerpt from Edmunds car reviews : 

 

“The official results? We hit 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and passed the quarter mile in just 9.4 seconds at a preposterous 150.8 mph. Had we factored the Plaid's 0.24-second rollout time into its final numbers, as some like to do, we'd report 2.1 seconds to 60 mph. It's important to note that Tesla factored rollout into its claimed sub-2-second 0-60 time (along with a specially prepared track surface). 

So how does this compare to an Italian Supercar ?

That's pretty incredible by most measures, but the Plaid makes even a V10 Lambo look lame.

One "g" is equivalent to the force of gravity, so anything above a value of 1.00 is a force greater than the gravity that keeps us planted to the ground. The Lambo peaked at 1.14 g momentarily around 17 mph, but the Plaid sustained an average acceleration g of 1.15 g all the way to 60 mph — enough to pin you to your seat or even a wall! Furthermore, the average amount of g force we felt in the Lambo accelerating to 60 mph was the equivalent of what we felt in the Plaid all the way to 102 mph.

Those kinds of things and the numbers this car produces in "stock" form were the stuff of dreams when I was a kid. Just like the LS motor was the stuff of our dreams when it came out. Things like roller cams, all aluminum motors, coil on plug, tons of HP and/or torque (want to change it? swap a different cam with no break in).

Police have now confirmed to The Sun that they have investigated the incident and sent the results to the prosecutor's office. A spokeswoman said it is being looked at as a possible "banned car race," which could carry a penalty of up to two years in jail.

Yeah, I got a chuckle out of that also ..  then again,  my previous dentist’s name was Les Plaq  ( Leslie Plaq, went by Les.. ).  I’m not kidding !    I guess some people were meant for their profession , or in the case of the Bugatti driver,  their avocation ..

This is a stretch of road that I’ve driven many times on my way to New Jersey Motorsport Park. There are signs which indicate a dangerous stretch of road. Quite frankly I’ve never understood why it is so dangerous. Perhaps it isn’t meant to be driven at excessively high speeds! It is not well banked but at high speeds there is little margin for error.
