I'm a "no". I think it looks to chunky and too obviously aftermarket. I get the idea of having a "handle" for the trunk, or "boot" as we call it in Austrlia and most other English speaking countries, but it is too obtrusive for me. If I really felt the need I might consider putting on one of the very subtle lips that you see on early AMG Mercs.



As for the aero aid aspect of the thing, unless you are spending lots of time at more than 65 mph it makes no difference at all.

In my opinoin, the rear spoiler make the looks of the Cab. A side shot of the car would really show that it improves the lines and offsets the splitter producing a more agressive look to the car. Since your car is lowered and has a nice splitter I think you would really improve the lines. Lines are very important to me... I have alway thought the the tail end of the cab just faded anyway and ended without much of a statement, the TechArt spoiler changes that. Since it does not require any drilling or mods to the trunk lid put it on and see if it grows on you. One bit of advise..... when securing the spoiler you fresh double stick tape and doulble up on it. When I first installed mine it slid back and the nuts on the brackets chipped my paint in inside of the car. After I found the "right" spot to position the spoiler, which took a least 2 bottles of good red wine, I placed a couple of small dabs of silicon under the spoiler to help hold it in place so it did not slide back again.

Hmmmm.... I have been having the same "yes, Maybe, No" self discussion concerning adding the factory AMG spoiler to the trunk lip of my 02 SL...

It doesn't need it from a performance standpoint... that SL has to weigh well over 4,500 lbs! So the rear end isn't going anywhere at the speeds I drive!

But... the trunk just sort of drops off, and I keep thinking that it needs something to sort of finish it off, like the 968 Cab... especially with the front splitter.

The AMG pack included a nice body kit, but the spoiler was optional, so I guess even AMG couldn't decide yes or no!



I think I vote for Bob to stick it on and let us see it from all directions!!!

IMHO : looks too fat - I would prefer that it be just a lip, with an ever so slight uptick at the rear. I might feel differently seeing it in person, maybe.... It's not the worst thing ever done, by any stretch. And if it actually improves performance, that might make it look better.

Speaking of red wine and cab wings, I just got back from lunch where three of us had two bottles of Nickel & Nickel ( Far Niente,s second label ) 2007 cab. and looking at ithe photos through wine colored glasses, I 'm still not convinced it,s something that enhances the cab lines at all. JMWIO. ( just my wine influenced opinion )

David, great coincidence, lol. And I'd go out and buy a case but at what I hear is about $ 80 / bottle retail ( still a lot cheaper than the winery's main label ) drinking it at lunch on someone else's expense account is about all the tasting I'll get of this ...



Speaking of wing or zing though, what do you guys think about the Strosek rocker panels on our car ?

Just as Flash is on the fence about the rear wing, I have the same conflict re adding those things...have been thinking for years about buying them , but not sure if it's going to look more like an add-on than factory ?

i looked at those close up on the yellow cab. they really stick out quite a bit. i wouldn't mind adding the brake ducts that could be made functional, but they tend to date the car, just like the rear wing. i've been on the fence about them too.
