It might be the only wine available!! Our recolte is 40% down due to the dryness of the region. The growers are saying the stressed grapes are hence giving good quality, but they cannot charge what they need to in order to compensate for the low volume. I've been saying for years that the wine here is underpriced, the better bottles are around 15E to 20E, but the Cave keep their prices low so that locals can afford them. The Southern-Mediterranean is the lowest populated and poorest region of France and most Caves don't sell far outside their own region .... recipe for disaster in the long run.
