Where does this plug in?
#1

There are two plugs on a single harness inAlso, the passenger side wheel well. One plugs into the windshield washer pump. Could anyone tell me where the other plugs in? (I'm guessing the pump for the headlight washer pump - an option my car doesn't have).

Also, I replaced my washer pump with a used one and now am getting a low fluid light on the dash. Would that indicate a problem with a sensor inside the pump?

29 views and no answer. Nothing from the archive either. Do I need to replace my "new" pump?

Sorry man, I got nothin'. There's no picture, and the wording is a little "iffy", so I don't know exactly where you're talking about. "inAlso the passenger side wheel well?"

Sorry.

I removed the washer fluid tank (passenger side wheel well) to give better access to the person repairing the small dimples on my passenger side fender. In trying to remove the "braided" rubber hose from the pump, the nipple broke off so I decided to replace the pump with a used one.

When I went to plug in the pump, I realized there were two plugs on the harness but I could only remember where the one went. (senior mement). I put everything back together and just let the second plug hang in place. Pump works fine but I'm getting the dash message that I'm low on washer fluid.

From other forum posts, I have the impression that the sensor is in the pump and I'm wondering if this pump is defective.

Is the new pump identical to the old pump?

Larry,

I'm afraid I don't have much, either, which is sad, considering I removed mine and should remember how the wiring goes, but I'm drawing a blank. But it's very easy to test whether you have a bad pump - remove the washer (it sounds like you've reinstalled it), and simply connect the pump leads via alligator clips to any 12 volt battery. It should produce an easily detectable audible hum. And while you're in there again, it may jog your memory as to how the leads need to be connected. Good luck.

Let me clarify ... the pump works ... it pumps fluid. My issue is that with the replacement pump. the low fluid dash light comes on. It didn't before.

I did purchase a 968 original pump in that it was cheaper to buy a used 968 washer fluid tank with pump than to just buy a new pump. I used the original tank and just swapped pumps.

My 60-year old brain has blanked out on where that second plug connects. The other one with three wires, plugs into the top of the pump. And from what I've read on the archive, the pump has a sensor to detect if there isn't any fluid. Is that correct?

I thought it might be useful to get some opinions before I remove the tank again ... which is pain to install since you have to remove the battery, wheel well plastic cover, and wheel.
