wheels - will they fit a 968?
#1

Hi, wondering if anyone can inform me how these porsche 911 wheel rims would go on my 968CS (track use).

Porsche 993 Cup2 Alloys

Fr 215/45/17 7J X 17 - ET 55 (993.362.124.00)

R 235/40/17 9J X 17 - ET 70(993.362.128.01)

They are different, according to my homework, from a 17" 968 wheel, hence the request for any input. They have been used on a 944s2

Just FYI, the 17" 968 wheels, according to Porsche, have following details.

Front: 7.5 x 17 with 65mm offset

Rear: 9 x 17 with 55mm offset

Regards

Mark

I've been waiting to see if anyone arose to the challenge of responding to your inquiry. Since that hasn't happened, I'll see if I can help.

I have no doubt that these will fit. If this was a street car, I'd be concerned about the look at the rear, where I think the tire will be relatively far inside the fender. For a track car, that's a possible concern for a different reason - cornering power probably will be a little less than it could otherwise be because the rear track will be relatively narrow. Also - again for a track car - the 2" F/R width differential is less than ideal for a 968 - more appropriate for a 911.

Agree- with those front tire sizes the wheel is probably 7 inches wide instead of the 7 and 1/2 that the 968 has. Will they work? sure, especially if they were wroking on a 944S2. Are they the best size for the 968? No. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

They will fit. But as Anchor mentioned the rears will probably look a little odd. Spacers would be needed to make them fill the wheel well better. And I agree, more pictures of the car please. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I used a set of these on my 968 while my original 17's where being resurfaces. The tires where Conti's 205 front and 255 rears. I fornd the rears where the same part number as the OEM 968 wheels in the set I had from a 993. Only the front are different in my case as the 968 is a 7.5 width with a different offset. I used them for several months and two Driver skill events and though the tires where slippery (old & warn) the car handled great - particularly in the Slolom.

A little off topic but I have a bad case of the wants over some HRE 840R wheels. The problem is I don't have the cash and I don't even know if they fit my car but wow, nice wheels! Got to save my lunch money.
