KLA S/Bar Supports
#21

For what it's worth, I just found an alternative product -- not sure if these ones are any easier to install.....

Tarett Engineering Stiffener

BTW, these guys also offer bolt-in rollbar for all you coupe guys.

Ok, based on what I'm seeing here. It looks like the bracket should be sandwiched inside of the bushing clamp instead of on the outside of the clamp. I have a DE at Homestead this weekend so I made the switch while I was under the car doing some inspection and maintenance work. Took less than 10 minutes to change both. Here's some pictures of my before and after.

Hopefully your configuration won't affect the retention of the bushing[?]. Increasing the ID of the bracket with a factory rubber bushing probably won't make a difference. However the delrin may want to move.

If samwiched is correct then KLA should update their install instructions...

I now have the holder sandwiching just the original bracket but not the KLA support -- and using Delrin bushings. So far, two track days and they haven't broken off again.

I really think it's only an issue when the KLA support used in conjunction with Delrin -- I can't imagine that much force being transfered through rubber.

Good point about the bushing retention. I could not find my original install instructions. If the instructions call for the bracket to be outside the clamp then I will be changing them back...again. Luckily, it doesn't take that long. Thanks.

@Mike

FYI: the instructions are available on the KLA website

Good Luck with your DE!

Went through this discussion with the local performance shop here. New delrin bushings seem to have too much play if sandwiched.

Their opinion was that if you tweak/bend the bushing brackets, then yes, they will bind the bushing unless sandwiched. If you keep them true, then should not bind.

We decided to put on the outside (as the KLA site shows) and try a few AX's. If they bend/break, then they will replace under warranty (parts and labor) for me.

So far, 1 race and all is good. Let's see what happens as the lube works its way out.

I'll report back after a few races.
