What is your average fuel economy???
#1

Alright, this should be of some value to the next person. How many miles can you go on a tank of gas, provided that you fill all the way and drive till the light goes on.

I figure that this is a reasonable question to see where all the other lead footed '68 drivers are in the current gas crunch. For the record, in Portland,OR, Premium is $3 and a tank last week was 56 bucks. Anywho...

17 gallons nets me ~350 miles. That's approx 20mpg.

I don't run until the light goes off, but my last fill up in Seattle, WA was at $3.20.

I did the math on how many miles I drove and the MPG was 17.8

6 speed, daily driver.

20 mpg. that's with 80% highway ( but driving like a bat out of h*ll most of the time ) and 20% city ( where I drive, yes, at the speed limit <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> .. and almost never push it except in turns where it's too much fun to drive mildly <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )

i just got 445 miles on a tank. it was totally empty. 20.5 gallon capacity in case anyone's interested. i've been tracking my mpg closely since i first got the car. it's been very steady at 22 mpg. doesn't even seem to matter how much i push it.

i did have one time where it was a tad higher. i think that was early this spring when the top was up for the most part. helps about 1mpg from what i can tell.

not sure if it matters, but i use techron with almost every fill and do mostly highway driving. this is my first year with the car. i have a 92 cab.

I ran it down 'til the idiot light came on for the first time a few days ago...half highway, half city on this particular tank - 458 mi on the tank and 19.046 gal to fill. 24MPG this time! Average seems to be more around 20-21 and as noted in previous posts, doesn't seem to be affected too much by driving style. I've only had the car a couple of months or so, so I too have been paying pretty close attention to MPG.

My long term (56k miles) average is 22.622 mpg. On a good, long highway trip on cruise control as much as possible, I've gotten into the 25-27 mpg range. On tanks that include DE time, I've been down to 12-14 mpg. My longest tank was 444 miles.

When this subject came up a few years back, some people said 25 - 30! Then we figured out they were using some sort of whacky 'imperial gallons'???

Anyway, my car is always right around 21.5. Highest I ever saw was about 24.5 on a highway trip without the A/C on.

you must have been coasting downhill in neutral...and with the engine off... to get

36mpg. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

flat ground - no discernable wind - 6th - cruise on - very painful test - took forever - i had read it in a book on the car and thought "wow", and so i tested it - pretty close - i'm a very sick man

Come on guys. My 928 V8, 300 hp (chipped, etc.) gets 21-23 MPG regularly. When I drove the 968 3000 miles across country, mileage (with cruise control at posted speed limit) was consistently 26-27 mpg.

I have been keeping records as follows sinceI bought this car:

Oct 04 - 30.43

Nov 04 - 31.93

Mar 05 - 30.64

Apr 05 - 30.96

May 05 - 33.63

Jun 05 - 33.87

Jul 05 - 34.05

Aug 05 - 33.80

These are imperial mpg (multiply by 0.824 to get US mpg).

These are monthly averages that include city plus highway. Each month is from 1-8 fill-ups.

In this interval I drove 30,000 km (21,00 miles).
