The garden hose is free but you have to bring your own water.

OK you can put me on a list for coming, if I am alive. I just found out today I might have Kidney Cancer. Will not find out if it is malignant until they remove the kidney.

Flash, sounds like you need a vacation! S. Lake Tahoe is a pretty relaxing stress free place, you should check it out, maybe sometime next July would be good Big Grin

and yes, i seriously need a vacation.  just no time.  gotta strike while the iron is hot

i love the idea of an event in my proximity though, and one i didn't have to plan

Would be nice to join the 968 crowd for the first time. I'm definitely interested, I may make this into a summer road trip vacation.

Good news! We’ve got the perfect hotel for the 2016 968 West Coast Gathering in South Lake Tahoe nailed down.  I’ve spoken extensively with the hotel management and MCL968 has visited the site and we feel this location will be great!

Here are the particulars:

Dates: Friday, July 8 thru Sunday July 10, 2016. You can come earlier and stay later and get the group rates. I’m thinking about doing that. The rates won’t apply for the 4th of July weekend, however.

We have found a hotel that will provide comfortable accommodations for a reasonable price while also providing a “partner” hotel for those that wish to spend less.

The main hotel is the 968 Park Hotel.  Check it out at:

http://www.jdvhotels.com/hotels/californ...ark-hotel/

The rates are for the deluxe rooms. The standard rooms do not have air conditioning.

Sunday-Thursday Rates:  $109 for us vs. $149 standard rate (27% off)

Friday: $152.15 for us vs. $179 standard rate (15% off)

Saturday: $169.15 for us vs. $199 standard rate (15% off)

Also included are 2 complimentary drink tickets per room valid at their bar, all amenities including wi-fi and parking. Covered parking is available with a Thursday check-in with pre-arrangement, and there will be an area set up for washing cars as well.

To book your rooms, call the hotel at
<a>530-544-0968</a> and mention the code “Porsche” to receive the exclusive discount rates. I would encourage you to make your reservations early, even if you aren’t certain you can make it at this time.

We have also booked the Garden Room which has a small separate seating area and also a private outdoor patio for late night gatherings. Bring your favorite scotch or wine!

Next door is the Park Tahoe Inn that offers lower rates.  Check it out at:

http://www.parktahoeinn.com/

The rates are:

Park Tahoe Inn Single King Rooms:

Sunday-Thursday (Non Holiday): $69.00

Friday: $109

Saturday: $119

The best phone number to list for this group code of “Porsche” at Park Tahoe Inn is
530-544-6000.  Park Tahoe Inn does not have covered parking but they will offer covered parking at 968 Park Hotel if you don’t mind the short walk to your room.

There are many hotels in SLT that offer more amenities if someone wishes to book elsewhere. This hopefully will give everyone enough information to start making plans for next July.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Many thanks to Bob for putting this all together and getting us thinking about a west coast gathering.

A couple of points to add. The Landing is right up the road and it's a very nice place, one of the best on the south shore. If you want nicer and more expensive, take a look at their property. They also have a terrific restaurant there, and it's very close to the properties on Park Street.

The manager is very excited about this group. He is a gearhead who races motorcycles for fun, so he gets the whole car club thing. He really wants to use our presence to promote the hotel, so expect a some promotional photos with our cars surrounding his property.

Last, to reiterate Bob's message above, this is a small property, so book as soon as you can so you can be guaranteed a room.

Matt

Hey you're a big guy, so you could have PUSHED your car up to the meet, if necessary , LOL. I'm still a definite, possible maybe , contingent on a million and one things, but trying ..it should be a blast, so I'd hate to miss this GTG..
