water leak
#1

NC is in the midst of a nasty drought. As a result the 968 has not been subjected to many downpours the past few years. But Friday it was parked at work and got drenched for several hours. Getting in I noticed a growing floor mat wet spot on the left side just below the hood release. Tracing with my fingers I found water drops up the carpet wall and around the release.

Thoughts?

Detached drain tube from sunroof can cause wet rear carpets .....possibly the front too ?

The cream coloured tubes run behind the interior trim panels.

Is the fusebox really closed? This can cause the problem as you descirbe in the front.

Hey. I have a similar problem with my 92 coupe. water in the DS foot well/carpet. sits on level ground and gets wet with heavy rain. but have also noticed water coming in when driving in the rain. Is this really likely the sunroof drain? Where does it exit?

IMO it's unlikely a sunroof drain tubes problem would cause water to find its way to the FRONT footwell areas - most of that will leak along the rear quarter windows panels and into the back footwell carpets.

Happened to me recently..... It definitely was the plastic drain tube detached behind the left pillar trim at the windshield base. Remember that there are 4 drain tubes from the sunroof.

learned something new - thought they had only those at the rear. oh great, now the chances of a leak just doubled <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/glare.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Just looking through the forum and found this thread.  We have a similar leak at the base of the PS "A" post in our '93 sunroof coupe.  How does one access the offending drain tube to fix the problem?
