HELP ! Tiptronic light
#1

Three times in the last two weeks, when I start up, the Tiptronic light stays on. I drove home from the office yesterday with the light on and the trans in emergency mode. When I got home, I turned off ignition and restarted the car. Light was off... When the light came on before, the "D' was shown on the panel with no gear indicators lights. Last week when this happened in the morning, I saw that the turnsignal lights would come on when I hit the brake pedal. Restarting cured the problem. Not sure if this occured yesterday. When the Tip light is off, the trans works as normal. No other issues witrh the "93 968, but at times in the past the Tip indicator lights have flashed on start up, but no warning light.. I have noted a slow turn over at times when starting( this is when the indicator lights flash), but everythig operates as normal. A few weeks ago, I borrowed my wife's car, and she used mine ( about a once a year occurance !!) and the battery was dead when she went to leave work. She said the fans were running when she parked it. In our current weather, I don't have the fans run often now.. I have not had a chance to look through the shop manuals, but I'm suspect a relay.. Any help or info is greatly apprsiated. Thanks....

A dead battery in combination with an old fuelrelay gives such troubles. When the fuelpump is not switched on with the right procedure in order to the relay does it gives you this kind of troubles witch are not explainable..............

I do have the experience about the same. Just in my case

Thanks for your reply. I've got relays on order. I'm planning on cleaning/checking connections this weekend.. The battery is about three years old, but I've upgraded all lights and draw a lot of power...Why do these problems when the weather gets cold and rainy rather than a nice clear sunshiney day !!!

our cars do need a fresh battery. But battery work better when temp is higher. This explaines your experience.
