Under car plastics
#1

Is it advisable to keep these?

bat wing?

undertray?

wheel arch liners?

Does anybody run without them?

i recently removed my rubber liners (two of them) for some service issues. i haven't noticed any performance difference. it's a tad louder in the cabin.

i can say that the metal heat shield under the oil pan connects to the rear most rubber liner. if you remove that rear liner, the heat shield is a little unstable. it will also vibrate a little bit and make a metallic sound. the sound could easily be avoided with a couple rubber pads, but it's still not too secure under there w/o being attached to the liner.

just my quick thought. i'm certainly not an expert around here.

I think I'll have to keep the undertray and bat wing in order to keep the front PU rigid anyway.

The liners don't seem to be needed at all though

I just wondered if you could hold the PU easily anyway or whether the batwing and undertray helped air flow underneath the car and removing them would effect stability etc.

I run with the bat wing because I don't want to let the air go under the car without being forced thru the radiator. I don't use the under tray because it is PITA to work around. I have added the wheel liners back because the fenders collect piles of debris inside. Rubber chunks, rocks, dirt, grass, mud, small animals - whatever you run across ends up collecting inside the fender. It also protects the ABS Pump.

the belly pan pieces do an excellent job of maintaining a lower lift coeeficient - i plan to actually add more of these things - take a look at all high speed (and i mean 180 plus) cars these days - complete belly pans front to rear - this is to keep the air from piling up under there, and to keep it going all the way to ther rear of the car and out - these cars are pretty bad in the rear as it is - i'd hate to get more under the hood - that will cost speed and create high speed instability - the wheels liners likely help some in the same manner too by streamlining the turbulence from the wheels
