That's amazing , you have a belt running things on an engine that goes 6 k and the SC's rotation is more than 16 X that ...how the heck does that work , lol , I need to take some engineering courses to grasp that.. :-)

Do gear ratios have something to do with that?

Wow, RockAuto is A LOT cheaper! $277 and core charge of $45. I'm bookmarking this site.

The two MAF remans ( Bosch and Cardone ) at Rock Auto are no longer available. I tried to buy either/or on their website and both prompted a " this item has been removed from your shopping cart , it is no longer avialable " mesage. And since it was not a temporarily out of stock, or back order message, I'm afraid one more NLA item bites the dust.

So does anyone besides me think that the MAF grills / egg-crate would be a good candidate for 3-d printing?

Of course the tricky part would be getting one out without destroying it so you could get it imaged.

There is a post here somewhere that the MAF is the same as a Volvo (Sorry don't have time to look up which one) or VW Scirocco at a much lower cost.

If I recall, you could also be really swanky and replace it with the MAF from a Ferrari F40 at about $7,000

I have had a few broken grill segments and fearful that others my break and get sucked into the engine somehow , I removed the entire grills on both ends . Until I sourced another MAF I drove the car with a MAF-less grill, daily , for more than six months ..and there was not a single difference or problem I detected . Supposedly they control the air flow and without them the reading is inaccurate so you may have issues with acceleration or stalling or whatnot . That was not my case , but..YMMV.

A while back I was thinking about giving one of these a shot, but I am still trying to solve the airbag light issue.

My thought was for people who just had broken or missing grill parts but the MAF wire was fine and were looking for just a simple replacement (and newer hopefully less fragile 25 years old in a hot environment)...

Our local library offers free 3-d printing services and help with design CAD work and these would be small enough to make in their printers.

Dan how hard was it to remove grills? I don't want to break mine taking them out.

Sam, the grills were not removable, I had to break all of them off.
