Strut mount replacement?
#1

I have a worn strut mount. I cannot find info on replacements. I think these don't exist anymore.

I know this is for OEM parts - but I cannot find an OEM part.

Anyone used a replacement - 9products ADAC strut mount or Paragon strut mounts?

94 968 is the car.

And thanks.

DC auto has used mounts in stock for $200.

I picked up a nice used set on eBay for around 50 bucks last year. A lot of folks sell the mounts with the struts, and they are a lot less than DC's price. I have purchased from DC in the past and they are great guys, but 200 for a used strut mount seems a bit excessive.

There are a few threads on here about the solid mounts, and most don't like them for street use. Same goes for the solid and semi-solid motor mounts.

I have heard nothing good about the e-bay bearings. How long have you been using them? It would be great if they work out.

I would never by used rubber suspension parts unless they were the last on earth.

I really appreciate all the replies and help.

Yeah - taking the suspension down to put in a used part has me a bit spooked.

I really think I am going to use the ADAC GT mounts - I am glad to be the guinea pig.

Racer's edge makes a strut hat that is aluminum - I have to think something goes in between that part and the strut mount.

The ADAC units look great, but I can't tell from the picture if they are solid mounts. It appears that they are, and if that is the case, be prepared for a harsh and noisy ride. If you are OK with that the payoff is more solid and consistent tracking and more adjustability.

Let us know how they work, we have very few options at this point.

So - a little follow up. I went with the KLA mounts. Car already had the KLA strut brace on it with the heim joint ends. Had a decent (non-Porsche) local shop put mounts in.

The mounts are reasonably priced and help from tech KLA was fine. Got them quick. I cannot really tell much ride quality degradation - honestly.

Bad news.....the rattle from the drivers side is the same. The drivers side strut mount (OEM) that came out, looks pretty new - I think prior owner was chasing this noise down too.  Anyway - found shop locally w/ a mechanic who worked at a Porsche dealership for years. Gonna let him take a look.

I personally think these mounts (KLA) are fine to use if you can't fine OEM. JMHO.

The OEM front strut mounts are NLA from Porsche, and were $450 or so each when they went out of stock.

Again - just one man's opinion:

I'd use the KLA mounts. Wouldn't hesitate to use them.
