Starting rough since radiator cleanse
#1

A couple weeks ago I followed advice here concerning cleaning out the AC condensor and the radiator, flushing them with moderate pressure water.

Since then I've had cold-start problems. The car starts just a bit harder than it did before, and sometimes makes a 'backfire' noice once on starting. And, for the first few minutes of driving, there can be considerable hesitation.

The car has the airbox mod, BTW, but ran fine with it until I cleaned the radiators..

Do you think I got water into my iginition, or the MAF? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

It is probably loose electrical connection on some component that was jostled in the process of cleaning the radiator. The MAF connector or the temperature sender connector are the likely componets.

The distributor cap is not sealed on this car like it is on others. I would pop it off and make sure it's dry inside. I would bet moisture in the "belt" housing can also form condensation on the electrodes overnight (as the car warms, it dissipates the moisture).

I would just make sure the entire ignition system is dry.

I took off the cap and wiped it with Cramolin. Hit the plug wires on their way into the cap as well. Much better.

Substantial carbon on the points. Time to replace...
