Side Mirrors
#1

Does anyone know if the side mirrors fold in? I see that there is a black button of some kind underneath each mirror but not sure what to do. Thought I would ask before I tried and broke one.

Success! Was a bit tight but they gave. My guess is that they were never moved in / up considering the amount of wax and dirt I just found under them.

Thanks a million Flash!

Hi,

Are there temp sensors in the mirrors? are they also fitted to convertibles? from what I know the heat is always on....(at least on convertibles)

The sensor in the mirror is for the outside temp display, it has nothing to do with cabin temp; that is located right next to the cig lighter (on a coupe anyway) and looks like a vent about an inch across.

As for the heat "always being on" you mean the fan right (this is always running on a slow speed with key on no matter what)? you should not have hot air coming out unless you have it turned up.

Hi,

I am sorry, I meant the heated mirrors are always on.....I just looked in the owners manual, on a cab they are always on...

Cheers,

Rutger

, that makes no sense, I know on my coupe the mirror heaters only come on when the rear defroster is on (which is often left on, darn Germans could have put a timer in it-my 924 is the same). Maybe some of the other cab owners can verify this for you.

It is correct that the mirror heaters on a cab are on any time the ignition is on. There is no "rear defroster" switch, and I guess Porsche figured that always on was a better approach than putting in a mirror heater switch.

hmm, Learn something new every day (if you don't; you're doing it wrong , wouldn't the element burn out faster?

Perhaps they come on when the front defroster is on. Makes sense if you think about it.

now that is neat but I'll bet that fewer than 1 of 10 of us actually now have mirror heater elements that work. Of course, for most of us, who would ever know? My car has seat heaters and I will see if the mirror heaters are hooked up to them.
