yay im a rookie! Here's my new to me '93 coupe
#1

Picked this baby up last week from the Rotterdam port. My first 968 (after a 924 and a 944).

Midnight blue metallic '93 968 coupe aka no targa sunroof. Marine blue leather seats, 17" Cup 1 wheels.

Marine blue leather seats. Seats seem in good shape, but leather has hardended a bit and has that plasticy feel. Leather CPR to the rescue perhaps?

3 out of 4 wheels seem in pristine condition (save the tires), one has a scratch and some curb damage. Not this one though

Trunk seems to be unused, yay

Reason for those tail lights

P/O installed a distress flare?

BTW, the car has tinted hatch and rear side windows. Not sure yet how much I like that look. As a rule of thumb, I like stock look. But the windows are coated as opposed to having had some foil sticked on them, so I wonder if it's even possible to remove, should I want to.

@Johann:

First of all, putting new belts + waterpump on it. Then, I reluctantly will have to put some yellow plates on the front and rear in order to be allowed to drive my new baby

Then, I want to replace the rubber between the skirts and the front bumper cover. Then I want the RS Barn SS exhaust tip, then, then then... We'll see, I haven't even properly driven it yet

Oh yeah, center caps with colored Porsche crests are way high on my list, always liked that look a lot.

I did not notice the tinting, but now that you point it out I can see it. It doesn't look very dark, or is it? I can highly recomend the RSBarn catback...it made me love my car's sound.

And once you have driven the car for a while the airbox mod and RSBarn stage 1 chip will bring a smile to your face. It does not give the cra a huge increase in power, but it just makes the car wake up.

By the way, I have a set of genuine coloured center caps lying in the garage. Let me know if you're interrested.

Thanks all! Of course, all 968s are beautiful cars, but it's a bit more flattering to hear it about the car you just bought

Johann, actually it's pretty dark but it's hard to capture it on a picture. But I'll guess we'll meet in real life sooner or later, so you can judge then Regarding the center caps, I'd most definitely be interested, but right now there are some things that have a higher priority. Once I got it rolling with new belts and the yellow plates (Dutch license plates are yellow, in case other readers are wondering), I'll contact you to see if they are still in your garage

Nice ride. Also like the tail lights. Even though its a small difference, I like it. We always seem to want our cars the way there made outside of the country we live in.

Actually I doubt that anyone is running out to add bumpers on the front of their 68.

rhudeboy,

actually some of the UK boys are doing just that....adding U.S.spec signals with bumperettes.

Well I just got my Euro spec in from sunset. I'll have the bumpers for them. Actually I think I'm gonna return them for the clear 930 signals.

BOT- So what are you going to change first on your car? Exhaust, suspension, chip...

Off topic Rhude so maybe you can PM me. I was going to order Euro turns from Jeff so I'm real curious why you don't like them considering the 99x fitment problems?

@rhudeboy: probably the exhaust and colored center caps for the wheels ;-)

@dave: I see you have a Zermatt Silber 944 as well, great color, my '84 944 was Z.S. too, loved it

Today I rented a truck (cause I still havent got the plates to drive the car itself) to bring the 968 to a new (to me) mechanic He's got a 968 as a daily I think and races with 944s so he knows our cars

Belts and pump + all oils will be done as a bare minimum, plus whatever he may deem necessary. Unfortunately he's a busy man so I'll have to be patient for a few weeks...

Really interesting. I have never seen a 968 front bumper on a 944 Turbo untill today.

And so we see something new every day ;-) It has 968 rear bumpers too btw. Technically it's upgraded to 944 Basic Cup (a Dutch 944 league) which means Bilstein suspension, camber plates, Toyo888's and some other gizmos, but cause of the appearance modifactions it's not allowed to be entered in mentioned league.

I think it's for sale as a 'road legal racer'

Shall I try to take some more pics when I go pick my car up?

Here's another pic of that car:

Finally some update. My car has been at the shop a bit longer than I hoped. Not so much due to unexpected work but 'I am busy' in reality meant 'I am way too busy to help you right now'. Good to know. Nevertheless fully satisfied with the work done, totally transformed the car, engine is running smooth as silk now, was way different before I brought it in.

New belts and tensioners, new cam chain and ehm those thingies where the chain slides over Repaired a tiny leak in cooling system (plastic tube on waterpump replaced), changed rear tires, put in new LHD front lenses etc.

Car has been at the local equivalent of the US DMV for a technical check before I was given finally the license plates. So, long story short, I can drive it at last, and what a blast.

BTW, removed window tinting, thought it was coating, but it was stick on foil after all. They did a really good job, could see no seams (even though there were 2) or bubbles. I just don't like tinted windows so it had to go.

BTW this is still the temporary license plate, mounted in the quick and dirty way. Final (yellow) plates are on now and mounted properly

That is definitely my intention, but there is a slight chance I'll be in Germany visiting some friends around/on that date. Guess which car I'll take
