Just as a closer I ended up ordering the delete carpets from Appbiz. They are just fine but I will get a pro to cut the overages and fit it properly in the winter.

Just ordered one of these bad boys. I think the price is fair, i don't want to be bothered with fitting carpet to the area myself. I hear it takes 4-5 weeks to arrive, i will post pics after install.

Two questions - How difficult is it to remove the rear seats? I hope it's as easy as in an E46 BMW; they just pop right out! And second, how much did you (link517) end up paying for the molded cover thingy? I'm thinking that besides saving some weight, getting rid of the rear seats will open enough space to haul my upcoming set of extra wheels with their DOT racing compound tires, and I'm a little worried that the tires and wheels might end up breaking that molded piece, although I'm sure it provides a nice finished look.

and Boom, done:

(iphone had some trouble focusing)

Downside (if you care about still using the back seats), you have to drill holes in the shell to reattach the inner seatbelt mounts.

Looks very nice. Have you noticed any increase in road noise level since you replaced your rear seat with the molded cover?

Feeling a little lazy - could someone describe the procedure for removing the rear seats? I have the "complete seat" style, not the type with carpeting where you'd sit. I poked around a little tonight in the dark (battery is disconnected, so no interior light), and didn't see any obvious attachment points. Is it glued in, or attached with some sort of clips or screws? Getting my new chassis brace Thursday, to I'd like to yank the rear seat before installing it. Thanks.

Sorry, had trouble with this post, and ended up with multiple entries. Deleting the duplicates.

Not sure what the "complete seat" is; I had the split folding seat backs and vinyl one piece lower. As I recall I just removed the 2 seat belt bolts on the tunnel, 2 nuts in the centre of the tunnel by the split and maybe a couple more on the top flat part of the deck. The hard part was the glue holding the bottom seat firmly to the chassis, lots of pulling on the front edge where it is glued to the carpet.

I would guess that the "complete seat" would not fit in the Cab because they have a small upper "flip down back" installed already (access to/from trunk). The "complete seat" would have come in the Coupe...

Is that correct?

Cloud - With the molded carpet piece, you'll lose that extra foot or so of flat area you get when you fold the rear seats down.

I thought about deleting my rear seats, but I would want to replace them with a carpeted 'shelf' unit that gives me the extra cargo space that the folded seatbacks provide. AFAIK, the cubby piece from the cab doesn't quite come up to the same level as the rear deck in the coupe, so that's a no go.

"One-piece seat" would have been a better description than "complete seat." Since it's becoming a mostly-track car, I removing the seat to save weight. Plus, my kids are now way to big to ride back there. DaveN - thanks for the description of how to remove it.

Rear seat is out; chassis brace goes in tomorrow. The seat bottom is very light (most of the weight is in the fold-down seat-backs), so I think I will put it back in for street driving for the sound absorption, and take it out for track days.

That is a thought Cloud. I have had mine out for a year or so and the have not had the time to go to the upholstery guy to get the delete carpet tucked in and sewn nicely as I would have to leave the car for days. The seat is just sitting in my garage waiting to get damaged and it really doesn't weight all that much. I like the look of the carpet but it would take a bit of tranny noise away even though I have B-Quiet (Dynamat) back there.
