Raps Garage Build 2011-12

Floor replacement started two days early. Interestingly enough, the guys doing the floor thought that it was at least several years old as opposed to several months old! Abraided and epoxyed first day. All of the cabinets and stuff is in the other garage along with the 968. It just occured to me that without too much thought I could end up putting some cabinets in that garage to better maximize space. I must have some sort of sickness here with this endless design and build mentality coursing through my veins. Liz begged me this morning to get an estimate on the breezeway before I start. My minimalist thoughts on the breezeway are slowingly feeling this relentless tug of design modification!

It is interesting to look at a properly finished product( floor) as compared to the previous finished job. I pulled up to the garage today. Both garage doors were open one inch and held up by nails. I got out of the car and was staggered by the chemical smell. I walked to the side door and tenitively opened it. Whoosh, by head swam and my knees buckled. Oh the sweet smell of clear coat. It occured to me that if I wasn't in the business I was in I could sell 10 minute slots to all the young huffers out there! Boy is this smell strong. Interestingly enough, I didn't get this smell at the first finished job. Color is different, looks good although it doesn't wow me yet. I suspect a couple of trim mods will pop it out. It will grow on me. I mean like after all, it's a garage floor! The owner of the company comes tomorrow to inspect it and go over warranties and the like.

Now the hot ticket item is finally the installation of the lift. Mind you it's been stored and has been patiently waiting. Not the lift but me. Brian was kind enought to send me his info on concours detailing and I would like to see what the car looks like underneath. Slowly but surely. Whoever said patience is a virtue should be shot. I see no virtue in it!

I prefer Prudence. She's got no virtue at all.

Well hard to believe but the floor is in and it's what I had originally hoped for. This company was the real deal and did a proper job. Teaches me to not rush and certainly go with an established company. Hope to get the lift installed in next two weeks. Need a sub woofer for a bottom which is sorely lacking, but finally just about done! What a long strange trip it's been!

Thanks! Yes the lift sits waiting. My guy who can do anything said to me this week he needs help. This from a guy that would cut off his arm to get a job done. So I need to schedule a rep from bendpak to come and help install the lift. Floor is great and doesn't show dirt, I live on a dirt road, in fact seems to hid it! That's my silver lining and it looks better than the previous color blue. I have been enjoying the heck out of detailing. It's now so convenient. Last weekend Liz cleaned, Clayed, polished and waxed her car. Wow looks great. Yes Jay!!!

Happy Fathers Day. So for fathers day the kids got me a 3 ton steel jack, creeper and jumper cables. Now mind you this is nothing that any of them could have come up on their own. Seems like my contractor is still not done outfitting my garage. He swore the girls to silence and told them to say they overheard it when he was in my office the other day speaking to me. What he doesn't understand is that none of them could keep a secret if their life depended on it! As soon as I got to the lake I knew something was up. Of course not being selfish or self centered, I always worry about relapse or think pregnancy. Boy was I pleasantly surprised when they couldn't hold their tongues. I spent a good part of my morning on my back tooling around on the creeper cleaning that hard to get lower underside. The lift is now in the garage. Not assembled yet but in the garage. Small putting green now there because of lots of space! Cheers!

You need a loudspeaker to go in your arse? That's going to far Rap, be content with your garage. You could always just speak out of it as I do with mine.

When I get as old as you perhaps I will become as good an arse speaker as you. It's a dream anyway! I am very content with my garage. It brings a lot of pleasure to the both of us with years more to come. Boom boom. Lol

And it's paid for!

Well after what has seemed like a terribly long time, drum roll, bada bing bada boom ba, and behind this curtain is a 968 up on a lift! A really sick thought occurred to me today as we were sending the car up and down to test and set, the new one will go underneath and I will only have one open spot left. Should I get another one? There are bets already going on. I'm thinking of going into a 12 step program for garage nuts. I'm not sure 30 days will be enough.
