Gorgeous! But, sacrilege, a Bimmer in the garage! Say ten hail Porsche's and you're forgiven...

Looks good Flash! A pleasant place to spend a few hours I bet. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

does the bmw get lonely without dozens of posters praising it?

But seriously... beautiful garage set up. I'm jealous.

thanks - getting there - a few small things left to do

gotta reprogram the remote for the TV

still have to run cat-5 from the router to the computer system in there

probably going to run hard air lines with multiple tap points

HVAC duct

should be all done before spring - then it's time for new doors with the big remodel

Looks awesome. My wife and I just bought our first house, but I don't think I have any chance of making my garage look remotely like yours....wish I did though. Nice work.

it was the first thing i did, knowing that if i didn't do it before i moved in, it would be incredibly difficult afterward - it's actually amazingly cheap, relative to the money we are spending elsewhere in the house - a couple grand for the floor, and the cabinets and benches are from sears, and really inexpensive - tops i might have 5 or 6 grand in the whole project - the ironic part is that my other half was the one originally pushing this back at the last place

the way i look at it, it's no different than any other room in the house - i have over 200k (between the cars and tools and stuff) that i keep in there - makes sense for me to spend a bit on the room i keep the stuff in - heck, building her closet cost more than the entire garage project - fair is fair, right?

ya know, i thought about it - mine isn't terribly noisy though - i do plan to create a sound baffle to further quiet it, but there really isn't a good place to put it outside that wouldn't create problems with the neighbors

Very nice.

I just picked up the 968 Cabriolet poster. However, I'm missing the red coupe and the yellow CS factory posters. A little help!?!

The garage was the first "room" I refurbished in my houses as well. I never have gotten around to doing the rest of the house!

When visitors enter from the garage, they start out with smiles and compliments that quickly turn into gasps and horrific grimaces when they discover the rest of the house is original/vintage 70's (right down to the dark brown shag carpet!).

Jeez, some car guys have their priorities completely out-of-wack!

I built an enclosure for it that is insulated and with a belt drive you can hardly hear it. I've got 20

acres here so i never gave much thaught about neighbors that must suck! maybe you need to

spend a little more time on the ranch up north <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I remember an interview I saw a few years back on the Meguiar's 'Car Crazy" program with the president of one of the classic car insurance companies. Meguiar asked him what the biggest source of claims was and he said it was stuff falling on cars in garages - mostly bicycles.

lol - yeah - worried about that initially myself, as that was the only place for them - they are secure, and even held in with a bungie

Hey nice collection of hammers & pry-bars.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Does your router also provide secure WiFi, [no cables to run]? That's what I use around my house...

lol - yeah, but the computer i use down there doesn't - hot rodded 7600 with a G4-450 card - no wireless capabilities - not particularly inclined to upgrade system either - i barely use it and it works fine for its intended use - it's really only for the workshop manuals, 968 files, and such

the hammers and prybars are the leftover "fine adjustment" tools from the mgb days

only the hubs on the sewups on the red one - the blue one is shimano - the red one is suntour derailuers, sakai crank, and dia compe brakes - very old school - lots of graphite and titanium everywhere now though - it was my old trainer when i was racing - my racer (bob jackson road frame) had a lot of campy on it, but it got crunched by a little old lady in an international travel-all (yes i was on it - yes that ended my bike racing career) - i updated it with some new stuff and don't ride it nearly enough - really need to get my fat butt back out on it, but i think i'm doing the neighbors a favor by not - nobody wants to see me in those little shorts
