Porsche using 4 cylinder turbo/hybrid in 2014 Endurance Race
#1

In the 2014 Le Mans LMP1 class all of the teams in the top classification are required to compete with hybrid racing vehicles. Teams were still able to choose fuel type, displacement, number of cylinders, and whether or not to use forced induction. After considering their overall goal states as "the well-planned utilization of the vehicle’s full energy potential" Porsche engineers developed a 2.0 Liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to accompany they electric motor. The electric motor is supported by two energy recovery systems and a high-performance battery.

As enthusiasts of their last (possibly not for long) four-cylinder production car its worth a look for anyone interested Porsche has more information on their website.

Hopefully one more overall Le Mans victory for Porsche, that would be the seventeenth!

Well, lucky it's an endurance race and not the F1 where the first few seconds of the start can make all the difference...given MW's not so stellar right out of the gate tendency .. Lol
