Porsche 968 crash with Reno Clio Video
#1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0uzMaSsPtw

I came across this video on youtube.  I don't race, but I thought it was an interesting crash, and maybe not as black and white as the guy in the Clio made it seem.  What do you guys think?

It seems like the 968 got loose in the corner and then the clio bumped it out again right after he gained control.  After this, it sort of looks like the 968 was attempting to go to the pit.  Certainly a judgement issue, but I don't think it was intentional, and the clio was being pretty aggressive.

It's funny how difficult it is for people to see the minutia and not to be completely polarized with stuff like this, but I guess he did almost die!

" deliberately being rammed off the track like that " he says ?! I did not see anything to suggest that, sure the 968 did not simply cede the Clio passing him on the inside and was close enough to cause the two cars colliding...perhaps not entirely innocent, but doubtful he deliberately wanted to let her hit or to even force the Clio off the track.

At least that was not the Ford Taurus - Renault Clio collaborative car, called the Cliotaurus. A racy car, comes only in pink, takes a while to start but once it gets going it's as good as it gets, but with a downside : many men won't be able to find it in a parking lot.

Dan....funny stuff.

I remember the SNL skit with the "Pinkley Taurus". Great stuff...right up there with "shvety Balls"

In racing , and excuse me as I have never done it, is weaving back and forth, to block a faster car considered legal, or good sportsmanship? The driver in the 968 prior to the crash was doing just that many times, and at the time of the crash I think weaved again and tapped the car causing the crash.

i have watched that a few times over the last few months, and i think the Clio driver could have backed out of it, bit of the old red mist involved there i think

I am pretty jr on the track, the first thing that came in my mind is blind spot, and the other driver for whatever reason did'nt see him and forgot he was there. No everyone seems to have the super mirrors to avoid.  I mean I hope he relized he was there.  That suspension on the car seemed pretty squirly. Did not seem intentional at all.

Is there any other track user among us who gets a chill and marvel in wonderment at being allowed to drive on the track when we visit storied venues?
