Drag racing a Porsche
#1

I see this section hasnt been used recently, so I thought I would let you guys see my baby.

In my introduction I stated that I drag race a Porsche 944. I know a lot of you will have a problem with this but as a kid I always loved Porsches and wanted to make my new drag car a Porsche. Owning a small body shop I was painting cars for a place called Delmarva imports. I was telling him I wanted to make a new car instead of my Trans Am that I had been racing for years. He wanted me to have one of his BMWs but I insisted on a newly traded in Porsche 944 it was a 1985 model at that time I believe it was around 1996. when I started the build, I put in a big block Chevy, powerglide transmission, and a 9 inch Ford rear. I did the back half myself from a kit I got from Competition engineering that came with a VCR tape. I have painted the car four times now and won two world championships, and many races with it. I always wanted to convert the front over to a 968, such a better looking car, anyhow after an accident a few weeks ago I had my chance and Im working on it now

Definitely not discrete or subtle. Never seen a 944 dedicated drag car, but with a big block (aluminum?), 968 front end...etc. What's not to love about that? Here I'm rolling around with a measly 240 HP thinking that's something...

Awesome car and best wishes for the newest version!

Thank you sir! Yeah it’s a 582 Brodix aluminum block. Makes a little over 1000 hp. Definitely fun to drive. Your car looks like a lot of fun, I would just be scared to drive the thing knowing what it would take to replace one, but that’s what they’re here for drive them and have a blast

Yeah, our 944/968 cars are setup differently for sure. The 968 makes about 3 times the HP as my first Porsche and less than our Cayenne S. Don't know what I'd do with 1000+ HP (but, might be willing to try).

Mine makes both left and right turns, my crazy brother is in to cars that only make left turns and yours is supposed to do straight lines the best.
