Brakes all around!
#1

Okay all you experienced problem solver dudes, here's a big brake mystery for you.

I've been researching and reading and scouring the brake parts suppliers sites looking for an itemized list of aftermarket big(er) brake components for 968 without success. Having said that, I figured I'd try to put together my own upgrade kit so I started clicking and reading.

...jump forward in time (about two years) to today...

I've read my last "opinion forum" on the other sites, in fact, I've removed them from my "Bookmarks" and I'm relying solely on what I read here in the worlds premier 968 site.

I need real, actual part numbers from a trustworthy source so I can send them some money in exchange for quality parts that are guaranteed to not only fit my car but also work as advertised in stopping said car.

I was just about to plunk down some $3500 +/- for an aftermarket Big Brake kit when along came a (rather awesome) friend who upgraded their 993TT with a big(er) brake kit from the same outfit I was about to do business with, and asked if I could use his "old" parts. Duh!

So... I now have the following parts in my possession:
1) a pair of 993TT front calipers with OEM pads, apx 2,000 miles (used, VERY good condition)
2) a pair of 993TT rear rotors (used, good condition)
3) a pair of 993.351.044/045.01 rotors (I purchased them new on a recommendation from a NOT 968forums forum [OK I'm an idiot])
4) a pair of Kokeln Big Red caliper adapter blocks w/ hardware (new)

Is anybody in possession of the knowledge, and the part number list, of what else I need to complete the brake upgrade?

Will the 993TT rear rotors fit our car? Will the 993.351.044/045.01 rotors fit our car? If so, with what other part number components. If not, they're for sale.

So who can help out a hapless fellow 968er in the quest for more stopping power?

Thanks for the help!

well, there are a few different ways to go on brakes for this car - first, i presume your brakes are standard now, and not M030

as for how to complete your setup using the most of what you already have, i would recommend just picking up the phone and calling pete at rs barn - he has done just about every existing brake upgrade for these cars, and would be the best source of sorting through what you have

i am still a ways off from developing my big 2 piece rotor kit that will retain the stock calipers, so i can't be of any help to you just yet

Thanks Flash, I was actually kinda' leaning toward your recommendation before I posted my question but I wanted to see what surfaced ahead of time for the sake of (my own) education.

My current brakes ARE the trusty OEM, if somewhat uncelebrated, version but I hope to begin attending some DE events, and later on see if I can find a track nearby to hone and improve some on track skills. I've only ever taken part in club events that were informative, FAST and fun, but not really competitive.

I will definitely call Pete and see what he says. I was just hoping beyond hope that maybe somebody already had on digits what Pete will hopefully tell me on the phone. There are several here on the forum who have installed the BR brake upgrade, and I figured they'd chime in sooner or later.

I traded a couple of emails with Matti many moons ago regarding his 996 brake upgrade. His set up still interests me because of the MonoBloc calipers and newer technology factored into their manufacture.

Anyway, I'll post what Pete tells me so if there are any others in the same situation, they'll be better informed.

Thanks again!
