Problem with pop up lights
#1

My "new" '92 cab had a glitch with the headlights tonight. Left side would not go up and on. After checking fuses, I gave the light a 'Fonzerelli' double rap with my knuckles. Up it came, and they both turned on. Upon my return to the garage, the same light would not retract into it's day-time position.

This was my first night ride, but I had put the lights on and off before just for kicks. Is this a loose connection, or something that needs to be lubed?

Thanks,

Keith

sounds like both - up would likely be the connection - down is gravity driven, so probably sticky - use tri-flow (not wd-40) and spray liberally on the armatures - use contact cleaner and spray on the wiring connections (after pulling them apart)

You could try Here there are 3 sections on the pop ups that may help.

Turns out to be a dead motor. $1100.00 for a new one, used from $75 to $250.00. I'm just going to avoid driving a night for the time being. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

If you lived in Arizona you could drive with one headlight at night for a very long time without being stopped by the law. That is, unless you drive a Porsche, in which case you will attract immediate attention. Or, you can drive with the top down at 1 AM on a Saturday night, with nothing broken and doing nothing wrong, and find yourself going through a laundry list of DUI tests...don't ask me how I know this, as the say.
