Fuel Filler Door Bumpers?
#1

Here's a good one for you - the little rubber bumpers inside the fuel door on my car look old and I want to get new ones. Good luck guessing the actual name of them and finding them in the PET or online. It took a good half hour and I'm really not sure I found them yet - I found something called a "Rubber Stop", but Pelican and AutoAtlanta state that only 1 is required, whereas our cars use 2. The part number is 944 504 397 00, and of course Pelican says it's a "German-only" part, (which is most likely NLA). Looks like I'll be refurbishing the ones I've got or making some new ones out of rubber stock on the lathe.

I am needing to replace mine as well. I seem to recall seeing some rubber feet at an electronic supply store in the past that might be a reasonable replacement. Will let you know if I locate anything. In the meantime if you plan to make 2, how about 4?

Once I put them in the cart and realized that the parts total was $2 and the shipping total was $13 for a total of $15, I decided to cut two pieces of fuel hose about 1/2" long and they actually look perfect - little black bumpers with the screw head visible down in the center. I'll go with that for now, and the next time I'm placing an order with AutoAtlanta (it usually isn't too long between orders) I'll add them to it - they're already in my "cart".

If I recall what they look like, the 513R here looks promising Lavelle Rubber Bumpers.

i know it is counter to the porsche parts purist, but i used a Dantona RCB-2062P; its a rubber foot for an electronics enclosure with a screw hole in the middle. readily avaliable at most electronics supply shops

Wow! Either those little things have gone way up in price or my data is for a different part. I paid $.50 each locally for these in 2006:

Yeah, as in my post, it's the *plus shipping* part that gets you.

(You can't really find them on Pelican unless you already know the part number, even if you type in the name.)
