ok, so as if this sale price for one car wasn't enough to make me spill my coffee, see the bold font below.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/glare.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

A 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa recently sold in the U.K. for $40 million, according to people close to the deal. The private sale is believed to be the most expensive of the year so far. While other Ferraris have sold for higher prices in private sales, this is the highest price ever for a Testa Rossa.

Possibly,

any Mille Miglia from 1949 to 1955

any 250 SWB Berlinetta Competizione

any of the 250 GTOs built between 1962 and 1964

any of the P250LMs of which there were along about a half dozen or so built

any of the 330 P3s of which there are fewer than 6, originals

any of the 330P4s of with there may be only one or two originals

Most of these are so rare I doubt that you'd ever see them at auction, but then it isn't as if there were a boatload of 250 TR's around either. Although, back in the mid 60's when I really started to go to races, 250 TR's were common enough.

Eh, I'd only pay $ 51 mil for that one ( $ 1 mil discount taken for those stupidly designed exhaust tips dragging so far behind the rear end ) . Otherwise, gorgeous car. Still, my brain has a difficult time processing $ 50 mil for a car, or a painting for that matter and a bunch of those have sold for even more than that recently. Although I suppose it's all relative - to a Billionaire, $ 50 mil is a reasonably affordable price tag to pay for a highly desired object.

What ?! You'd pay that much money for an " incomplete " car ? That's why the first one I posted was only $ 40 mil, if they had finished it and it had a hard top it would have also sold for $ 52 mil... just sayin'..

And now, as rumors would have it, one of only 18 of these cars ever made is expected to surpass any auction price ever paid for a vehicle ..and surprisingly, it's not a Ferrari !. Rather, it's a 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. My ex-boss who lives in Singapore, and connected to the high society circles there ( S'Pore is supposedly where this car is on the auction block ) tells me the bidders were informed there is already a silent offer at ...everyone sitting down ? ... 100,000,000 Sterling . I'm not even sure any mansion sold has ever reached that price level yet . Unreal.

Well, you can sleep in your car but you can't drive your house!

You realize of course that statement just begs for a dissenting opinion from many trailer park residents ( ok, fine " mobile home " park, lol ) of this fine country :-) :-)
