What did you do for your 968 this week?
#1

This seems to be a popular post on some other forums I visit.

I just ordered new lips and barrels to build 18x10.5 rear wheels.

Also picked up 7 quarts of Royal Purple.

Finally installed the brushed aluminum gearshift knob insert I bought at Hershey last year. I had to drill a hole in the original plastic one and break it out in pieces.

I scored front and rear engine compartment covers and ordered a Higher Connections cabling kit (to be installed before Hershey)!

Took her for a nice drive on Saturday.

Just bought a set of sills from the best source. Also picked up a set of uesed rear belts in order to convert the rear of my cab to seats so I can take my daughter for rides.

Thought about what little things I am going to do to it before Hershey.

The cab is still with Pete getting her once over, but she should be back real soon...

Installed the stainless steel shift knob insert & suede shift boot. Also ordered the clips for the rear engine compartment cover & got excited when Joe pm'd me to let me know he shipped out the linen cab storage cubbies. Shipping cost him significantly more then anticipated and he refuses to let me cover the difference.

Oh yea, and bracer shipped out the excellence mag with Boost feens Turbo article for no reason other then to make a fellow 968 owner happy.

This place is amazing. So many nice personalities here. I'm really happy to be a part of this community with only one regret; not being a contributor and taking the time to post more frequently (despite being a 968.net member years ago, and a member on here for a few years...i never really communicated with anyone much).

i gave it a massage (wiped it down with detail spray and vacuumed it)

i ordered some jewelry for it (silver letters for the newly powder coated fuel rail cover)

i serenaded it (installed new stereo system)

i threw it a party (had a bunch of guys over for a tech day)

this week i'm buying it a new shawl (getting the tonneau cover)

lol - who needs internet porn?

Opened the garage door to look at it. Closed it back up-kinda like groundhog day here on the east coast. Too much sand on the streets to not chip the paint. Did put a new battery in it a few weeks back. Last time out in the fall, my son and I drifted it up the sreet

Dont think the neighbors thought it was funny....

let Flash pull the front bumper (proving it can be done in under 10 minutes) and replaced the lower grille.

Replaced the water pump that puked coolant all over Flash's garage floor last week, only to find out that, after putting it all back together, I had the wrong water pump! Argh! Seems my car (a '92) has a rare and different pump. Even Pete was stumped, which is hard to do on our cars. I am going to start a new post on this with pictures because there is definitely a learning opportunity here.

brian - lol - sorry it took so long to yank that thing - if i was set up with all the tools ready to go i could have done it in 6 minutes - it took me almost 10 (including jacking it up and putting it on stands) because i got ahead of myself and let the clock start before i was ready - i got a kick out of the ribbing for it taking me so long though

joe - sorry for not taking a little longer so you could take the DIY shots properly - hope you got the shots you needed though - lol - i guess you'll just have to explain that the shots are blurry because i was moving so fast - yeah yeah - that's it

I got enough shots to help me when I am ready to pull it. Would not make for a great DIY here though. Went too fast to get good explanations on the what and where of all the screws and bolts.

drove my coupe 1000 km in the past two days, vacuumed it and am still hoping my breath that the wiring harness continues to hold up. No garage queen here.

This week? That limits the winter list
This week I did the rear speaker box/dryer hose install. Got my rims painted so there is NO MORE road rash from the PO. Spoiler is out for Midnight Blue paint. Vaccummed the interior after all the winter mayhem inside the car. Put all the electrics back after the remote install and then stared at the car cuz they don't call it the Wet Coast for nothin'

+1 to 94nine68, sand and rain still

PS Quote "Oh yea, and bracer shipped out the excellence mag with Boost feens Turbo article for no reason other then to make a fellow 968 owner happy." Bracer went out and got the last news-stand copy for me and mailed it gratis! If we get any closer or helpful I'm going to be watching for the purple coolaid

This wasn't in the last week, but rather 2-3 weeks ago.
- R&R'd Wiper blades
- Clay-barred and waxed the paint [then had comments like "is that really a 94?"] I don't think I'll ever use discount wax again.
- Installed 996 shifter [luv it... thanks Xrad!]

I'll take those pics if you can send them my way. I'd be willing to grab a photog friend to take some more photos for the DIY. I've been needing to do this for a long time now as I want to get it re-shot and install the new OEM mesh grille. PM for an e-mail addy. PorscheDude and I tried to pull him and encountered a few rusted bolts, so I bet it was fun to watch someone do it in 10 minutes. Flash has always said how easy it was! I may have a relatively free weekend upcoming, so perhaps it's time! I can start the front wheel wells while she's got her nose in the air.

Flash, what's your jack point of choice and where to place the stands so they're not in the way?
