Installed the RSB heat shield and changed the black plastic oval instrument benzil (sp?)/ air vent to a clean one with the Unleaded label on it right above the steering column and removed the Unleaded label off the clear plastic instrument window. Much better look imho.

Rebuilt Denso AC compressor, dryer and belt.
Bad clutch bearing on the compressor kept on ruining belts and turning on the knock sensor in position 1.

Replaced my door handle seals.
New ones look great!

Thanks, Daydreamer, for the shortcut of cutting the large seals at the bottom so you can get them on without taking the door apart. This seems to create no issues at all.

The old ones were in such bad shape, they were crumbling and came out in many pieces.

Whole job took a half hour, only because I was being overly cautions and took the time to clean and shine up the paint behind the handle while it was disconnected. Could have been done in 5 minutes.
The 4 seals in total were less than $10.

If your handle seals are less than perfect, you need to do this.

Jamie

And I also replaced some carpet trim clips in the back that were missing or had gotten brittle and cracked over the years.

Thanks to Dino for recommending Sunset while we were talking at Hershey. They had great pricing and actually had the clips in the right color so I didn't have to spray them.

I picked up a set of original 16" wheels from another 968 owner who had upsized to 17".
Although I like the design of the 17 inchers on my car (they are from a 996), I prefer the original look.
I'm getting them refurbished at the moment, there is a little bit of gutter damage.

What I never realised was that there were 2 similar types of wheels available. The set I picked up have the slimmer spokes.

This week Lady P clicked through 93,000 miles, so has had all new belts, rollers, timing chain and cam pads, along with new oil seals to cure a slight leak around the cam shafts. also purchased via ebay, a new gear shift boot from a firm in Germany, has a nice cool feature that the gear bezel lights up with the lights on, so I had the 'red' glow version to match the rest of the interior lighting. a very nice item. to replace the tired looking leather from the oem unit.

Last week, I brought my 968 to RS Barn for a brake system upgrade - rebuilt 928S4 calipers up front, rebuilt stock calipers in back, new front rotors, new pads all around, and all calipers done in silver. Looks great, and I just finished a day at Watkins Glen during which I set a new personal best. While at RS Barn, some other things that needed attending to required the removal of the front belt enclosure. LUCKY!!! The balance shaft belt had lost inches of teeth, the timing belt was loose, and it's likely that had those not been caught, I would have lost the belts on the track - with the attendant major engine damage. So, I (well, actually, Pete and Max) saved my car from having to get an engine transplant (although I still think about that LS1 conversion). Oh almost forgot - also found that one of the A/C compressor mounting lugs had broken off - so, for the moment, the car has a non-functioning compressor to hold the belts in place. This is the third A/C compressor mounting issue I've had in the last couple of years - has anyone else suffered such failures?

Actually, yes. I took mine in for a OBNOXIOUS squeal in February. Timing Belt and a few other things. 3 days after getting it back, same noise. Tightened the belts, good for 1/2 day, squealing again. So, after more tightening, and no resolution, they looked at all the components with a belt. Seems one of the mounting bolts had broken off previously (only purchased this 968 13 months ago) and then been poorly soldered back on (or some other lazy fix). It re-broke, and was causing a horrible strain on the belts. In hindsight, this failure actually caught the timing belt, and much like you - JUST IN TIME. Nothing like a ceased engine at highway speeds! Anyways, they replaced the entire compressor, upgraded the system to R134a while they were at it... seems to be fine now. I will definitely keep ya updated if it fails again. Who knows how many times it failed before I bought it...?

I feel your pain!

Replaced distributor cap and rotor last night.
These were original, and had 138K miles on them. The old cap looked pretty tired.
Read Clark's procedure before doing this. The 968 appears to be much easier to do than the 944.
The car still starts
We'll see how it drives in another hour when I head off to work.

Jamie

Update:
This one exceeded expectations.
The idle is more steady, throttle response is noticeable quicker, and the car seems to accelerate smoother.
Don't wait until 138K miles to replace these things.
It's easy.
$100 for the parts at Pelican, incl. shipping (significantly less than Sunset) and 45 minutes, only because I am really slow.

Finally got around to new front rubber and having a four wheel alignment today on my '94 M030 coupe.

I dont know exactly how bad my front end was out to begin with, but I know it was bad as the front tires lasted a little over 3k miles.
So a combination of new tires (BF Goodrich G-force T/A KDW 2) plus Flash's alignment specs have made a drastic improvement in what was already a great handling set up.

Clay barred both cars on the weekend - was very impressed at how smooth it made the paint.

How does the timing belt get loose, given that it's self-tensioning? You must have had a bad tensioner. VERY lucky you caught this when you did...

What were the specs that Flash gave you that you liked so well?
