#1

Was doing grocery shopping and as I was beside car a guy in BMW asked if I would like to sell my car....After a moment thought I told him no.

How much is your car worth would you sell.. just had engine rebuilt..... tranny and suspension work done

lol.......

could we ever recoup money from sale if ever we decide to sell

Everything has a price ...depends on how much

50 G's, small unmarked bills please...

Seriously, I might consider selling for $25K - That would put a cool 10K extra for stress and strain in my pocket...Had a guy with an older carerra chase me down today to see what I was driving..it was kind of cool

I would sell in a heartbeat if someone offered the right price. Not that attached to this car yet.

Maybe 50 k . And that's a big " maybe " , simply because I don't think I can find anything out there for under that sum that looks as good, drives as well, is as practical and as reliable as tne 968. That car has to meet every one of those points to make it compelling for me to sell the 968. Can't think of a single car .

Hey Dan,

when you sell yours for 50K, let me know then you can buy mine for 25K. That way you keep 25 grand and I make 10 grand! - lol

By the time my car ( or any of our 968s for that matter ) go for 50k, I think both you and I will be too old to trade, sell or buy anything..other than maybe a pack of Depends, lol.

$50k plus and it is yours. With the drop in the dollar, this is cheaper than most. You would even get to drive on the right side of the car.

It is funny, after having a cabriolet, I don't know if I could get used to a 968 coupe - lol

There is hope : one of tne 968 Turbo RS sold for $ 346,500 earlier this year. Sure, there are a few more " regular " 968s out there than Turbo RS, LOL, but the point is that at that price the buyer could have had his choice from a multiple of much better, much faster, more modern cars, yet he chose the 968 because of its exclusivity ( I presume..) So not entirely out of the realm of possibility that someone out there might be willing to pay 3 to 5 times the market value for a 968 in great mechanical and cosmetic shape, if that's the kind of car they are fixated on having. A few years ago ( about 3 or 4 I think ) someone who owned a blue 911 and a blue 928 offered me $ 25K for my car, as is, no PPI, no conditions - he just wanted a blue 968 to add to the mix. All sorts of folks out there and their eccentricities in the marketplace . :-)

Only if Flash went back into business plus 40K; then I would sell. Problem is I would probably buy another car and want all the D1R stuff put back on INCLUDING the SC!

I get offered to buy regularly at any random stop. 5 times a month maybe? I don't really know what the number would be... My aftermarket chrome ROH rims and Strosek hatch is like crack...

I have a bit of fun with folks who come over to ask what new model PORSH this is, and then say that they heard of the 968 ( but you can tell they really have no clue ) and ask if it's a six or eight cyl. I tell them, and with a very straight face, that it's a small block V10 . You can't imagine how many people actually fall for that b.s and just stare at it as if in awe .LOL . Hey, the hood is long enough to just make that claim seem plausible :-) Of course I then let them off the hook in a few seconds.. :-)

Wonder what the market value of this car would be if it did have a 6 or an 8 cyl engine ..

Aw, that's easy. See if you can get someone to believe it's a 7 cylinder, and then you've got something!

Weren't some cars ( Audi ? , Mercedes ? ) made which had 5 cylinders ? That seems odd ( no pun intended ) .

As for the 968, you could also tell people that it's a prototype that never went into production and you have the only one. Anything else on the road they may see are all replicas of yours. :-)

this is the kind of thing i was talking about. any one of these cars that has not had the hoses and all rubber parts like that changed, needs to have them done. suspension bits will likely not be far behind. motor mounts too.

by the time you are done, you'll be pushing $20k to get the car up to snuff. it can be a very fun car to drive after all that, but it can also be a nightmarish journey getting there.

I guess I assumed he changed them...they were on my list. Duh, stoopid me. Glad I was close to the wife's office. I snagged her car and went to get my truck and flatbed. Got to use the new winch though. At least I can say I use it...she was torqued when I dropped 4 C notes on it in April when I bought the car.
