Supercharger Crankcase Breather Check Valve ?
#1

Does the D1R kit utilise a check valve on the breather to intake hose? I'm getting a little bit of crankcase pressure pushing oil up through the little cylinder cylinder head plug "caps". My breather is connected just before the SC, and I think it is occassionally pressurising the crankcase.

Are you referring to the 4 round seals that are between the cam cover and the plugs?

There isn't one in the D1R kit. I do have one on my car though, but not sure it's really needed, it's really there from the playing around Flash and I were doing when we were thinking about the breather system. I used a PCV valve from an SRT 8 motor, the 6.1l motor. It has just about the right size on both sides to stick in the breather hose that I'm using and most importantly it was designed for use in a horizontal position. The other spot where potentially boost could enter the crank is thru the vac line to the AOS, a check valve there would take of any potential concern there. Not really sure it's necessary though, I didn't have any issues before, it was just a result of tinkering while thinking out the breather system with Flash.

Yes - the leak is through the plug hole seals, but more through the 2 plastic caps the S2 cam cover has (the 928 uses these for breathers).

So the D1R simply connects the breather that normally goes to the throttle body to the intake after the MAF and that's it?

Yup, as I recall Flash just pulled out the hose and connected it to the SC with with a double male.

Yes the breather is moved to the backside of the MAF before the SC.

Ok - thanks for the replies. On removal it appears the plug seals are holding, but the crappy plastic caps the S2 have (with O rings behind) are leaking the most. I'll replace the o rings and add some RTV and hope for the best.

Edit - pulled cam cover off - o rings were more like hard plastic than rubber. Replaced with new O rings, will see if this fixes the problem.
