the infinities are 2 ohms? that's odd - mine are 4 - i didn't think they even made a 2 ohm speaker - what model?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Dave's right, the Reference as well as the Kappa are 2 ohms. If I decide to go without an amp, I will add the (Infinity) 6.5" in the rears and the (same) 5.25" in the front doors. Without an amp, will the OEM tweeters on the front door panels be sufficient? I did buy a Kenwood KAC - 6404 amp (it was on special) that is rated at 40W x 4, but with the 2 ohm speakers, It'll put out 60W x 4. I will not use the Infinity speakers if I install this amp - I've already decided to add JL Audio C2-525x (5.25") in the front and JL Audio C2-600x (6.5") in the rear. At that point I think I will have to change the front door mounted tweeters - JL Audio C5-075ct 3/4" silk dome tweeters. Are these the correct size tweeters? Question: where is the best place to mount this amp? Also, I want to add an XM tuner to complement the Pioneer DEH-6000BT CD Receiver - it's a new model that is identical to the 7000 but does not have the fold-down face. Do any of you folks have a suggested spot to install the XM "box"? It is about 6" x 7" x 1" - perhaps the glove box? I figure the antenna would work best on the rear hatch - I have seen someone mount it magnetically atop a rear shock tower facing up thru the rear hatch. Does that make sense? The wife's 7000BT did come with an instructional DVD so hopefully I can sit and watch, replay, watch again, repeat till I can tune the thing - if I am still confused, I will send you a quick note and try to figure this thing out over the phone - thanks for that Flash. Did you know Crutchfield will send you a kit that installs in your car and adjusts your tuner / amp / speakers for optimal imaging? It "pings" a signal till you have everything synched. The girl I spoke to said I could order it, use it, then send it back for a full refund after it's done its thing. That's a sure sign I've spent far too much money there.
