Oil Leak from Transmission
#1

I have just got into Perth from my 4,000km road trip across Australia. Yesterday (halfway across), I noticed that the transmission was dripping oil from the rear of the casing. This did not appear to be a problem when driving it, just on the road trip across. I have put the car into a garage over here and I will check later in the week to see if it is still leaking.

Any ideas on why the transmission would start leaking? The transmission was rebuilt last year. The car has just been standing for three months at the mechanics while the engine was rebuilt and the supercharger was installed.

This seems like a very strange location for the transmission to leak.

The airflow under the car can push leaks away from their source, making their origin hard to pin down. Mine is leaking at the seals for the pieces that the half-shafts bolt to, on both sides, but it looks for all the world like the leak is coming from the drain plug area. Good luck - leaks can be a royal pain...
