What is this part behind distributor?
#1

Can anyone help ID'ing this plug behind the distributor and between the PS reservoir and engine?

More importantly,  is it supposed to be secured in the bracket shown in these pics as well?   mine is flopping loose and I didn't see (with a quick inspection, didn't get a chance to spend too much time with it) a way it would easily fit/secure into that bracket.

Hi Velocity I'm not in the position to answer that right now, but will check to see if someone else has done so when I awaken tomorrow. However, until then ..... no part numbers to be seen? That bracket is a typical "slide into" Porsche affair so something (and I suspect it is that plug/socket arrangement) should be sitting on it. Until tomorrow.....

Occurred to me (after I posted) to try to find a prior picture of my engine bay showing this area, which I finally did.

Looks like that sensor DOES slot back into the bracket - will try to get it back in there using this picture as a guide.

That is the cam position Hall sensor, it is held in that bracket with a flat metal clip, the plugs have possibly deteriorated and the clip has fallen off

It is available from Porsche as a spare part

Here's a sideways on shot so you can see where the plug/socket slips on to the holder.  Pop some grease on the jaws of the metal holder and with any luck all should be good.

Edit .... when I said "sideways on" I meant of the bracket/plug/socket and not the photo, but what to do?  Anyway, you can see the layout. Cheers
