Where can I find part # 94410517909?
#1

I require a part for between my belts and the engine, a gray plastic mounting bracket/cover, part number 94410517909. On pricing this up I find it's about US$750 and comes for Germany, taking around 3 weeks. My cars in pieces and I want the part faster, and cheaper. Does anyone have one for sale or any idea where to get a used one?

Thanks very much!

If you could provide a pic or a pic of the parts breakdown I might be able to help...

If you don't mind recycled try dC Auto. Their online PET makes it easy to find the part and determine if they have in stock. They recently (last 6 months or so) broke up a couple of 968s.

For the record I still haven't found this part, 94410517909.

But I have been informed it's the new part number/version of 94410517908, which is the rear toothed belt cover, fitting between the camshaft head/distributor cap.

The sad news is that while a few places list it they still don't stock it and currently cannot source it. The quote I received here from my Porsche dealer is the same, able to price but unable to supply. dc Auto don't have any, none of the new parts guys can source it. I've tried about 30 dismantlers in the USA, UK and Australia and can't even find anyone with a used one!

My car remains in pieces, my part has snapped bolt mounts which mean I only have 1 in place rather than 3, something I don't want to drive with.

Thanks for your help everyone, if anyone else can help me further I'd be extremely grateful!

They are $776 new from Porsche currently. There is a recent thread on here about it, I seem to recall it being mentioned the new ones are aluminum instead of magnesium.

I just order mine from http://www.sunsetimports.com last week. The sales lady said she was able to locate the last one Porsche has in the US and I should be receiving it in the next couple weeks. And yes, it's outrageous expensive....cost me $768 for the rear and $80 for the front.

Seems like someone ought to get a casting of that thing! Not really up my alley although I could CNC machine one with all the proper dimensions, maybe out of Delrin or phenolic resin.

I have access to some Haas cnc machines. I have asked for a ROM based on the pictures. I'll let you know what I find out. If someeone has the part off and can make a 2D drawing that's accurate or better yet a 3D that would help build a solid quote.

If I ever get mine off for any reason, I'll put it through my laser scanner.

Mine is currently off my car, with no possibility of getting it back on anytime soon (a few minor parts like the crank and the head are in line at different machine shops), so I could send it to either mefforddk to have a copy made, or if working off an image is better for some reason, I could send it to tamathumper to have it scanned. Very cool-looking device, by the way. I first thought it was a joke! Let me know.

This would be very good. Mine is to deteriorated to be of any use for scanning.

So, would you like me to send you mine? I think it's slightly corroded (I need to remember which box I put it in so I can take a look at it!), but hopefully not badly enough to make in unusable as a template.

Thanks very much, by the way, for offering to do this! Love this forum...

It could be corroded away entirely and it would still be OK so long as the parts that were corroded were symmetrical - sort of like only needing to scan the port side of a canoe, and then copy and "flip" it as a mirror image to get the starboard side. Corrosion can be "smoothed" as well, so long as it's within reason.

mefforddk, the CMM will probably give you a point cloud - and that's a great start! [Image: cool.gif]
