Interior Dome Light on a Cab
#1

Since I have great expertise in breaking things, before I do too much, I'm asking for advice on how to repair my interior dome light on my Cab.  The problem, it keeps falling out...drives me crazy.  Light itself is fine. The hole it fits in is worn on the right side where the light's clip is supposed to snap into place.  I've tried, very gently to straighten the lip that the light's clip slips into/over.  Not much success.  So, has anyone had this problem? Can I use a screw driver to bend/straighten the edge of the opening so the light stays in place without damaging the piece beyond repair.  I know this sounds minor but my record of repairs of delicate parts is not good! Doesn't sound like a big problem but it is annoying...very annoying! Any advice would be appreciated.

Could you post a picture of what you are talking about? I seem to recall I fixed mine with a couple of drops of superglue to build up the bump that holds the light in the windshield surround. But I may be suggesting a solution to a problem that you don't have.

Had exactly the same problem. A minute drop of super glue and all is fine.

I would buy a new light, the VW T2 bus is the same light

They cost about $15 from a VW specialist, I can’t imagine the metal hole has worn, it must be the light that’s worn

Mine was warped and distorted, apparently from the heat of the bulb over time? It wasnt falling out but it didnt fit right

Replacement plastic fits fine.

I was amazed that the prices were so low for these little lights. I guess it's the economy of scale at work.

EBS Racing has the Hella units for hella cheap (see what I did there?).

They are in my home town if anyone needs some picked up and mailed to you.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  The hole is definitely worn.  I'll give the super glue a try. If that doesn't work, I'll pick up a new light.  Thanks again for your help.
