Hi Darryl,
I have been running the top in manual, I just finished a listing about having to sell my 968. I hate having to but we just had a baby about 8 months ago and I have to drive him to day care. Know anyone that would like to buy it. PLease help.
I did look and found a place for the gear and will order it ASAP.
It's so sad isn't

Plenty of info here on busted odometers...do a search. Many of us are chasing the same issues. Most times it is a broken gear which is fairly easy to fix, but requires removal of the instrument cluster. Sounds daunting, but after you do it once, it isn't a major deal. I have a set of 968 gears that I didn't use when I took mine apart (the most recent time) that you're welcome to if that is what you require.
As for the top motor, the first obvious thing is to check the fuse, relay, and switch. A lot of us run the top in manual mode as it's easier and faster and doesn't place wear on the motors.
