Clicking sound & heat turning on and off. Suggestions?
#1

I have a clicking sound coming from behind the dash on the passenger side. It is intermittent, clicking sometimes when I drive and then going away and then coming back. With the car stopped, I can make it click by pressing on the left edge of the glove box if the key is "on". With the key "off", no clicking. Also the heater seems to turn on and off by itself, regardless of the temp setting. I suspect these two are related. Anyone run into this before?

Sounds like the heater/ac control needs to be cleaned or replaced. It seems to be pretty common on these cars that the internal connection points get dirty and cause the problems you describe.

i had this happen - it was a vacuum leak at the heater control valve - i nicked a hose - the heater defaults to "on" when there is a leak
