now looking for yet another 968 cab
#21

actually, the decision NOT to call it the S3 was based on the well published, advertised, and touted idea that 83% of the car was "new" - porsche wanted to make a statement about how different the car was and went about saying so

while the chassis clearly has its roots in the previous model, there are significant enough differences everywhere that could easily put it square in the same situation as any other first year car

saying that something "has not had a problem" is not the same as saying something "is not without issue" - that being said, i don't think anybody will have a problem with the rods in normal street use - i have heard of people bending them though

however, the thing i have to keep in mind is that i run these engines hard, revving well past 7k - this is in stock trim - i'll be doing the same thing in the next car, and any of them that i have - my driving is not going to change - i stand a better chance of bending a rod in a 92 than a 93 - for that reason, i don't want a 92 with stock rods - if somebody had already changed them out, i would be more inclined to overlook the year

and i completely agree about the balance issue of mixing and matching

lol - true enough - but, since she does not drive anything for days, and sometimes weeks, on end, i would HAVE to drive it, if only to keep the battery up and things lubed

yeah yeah - that's it
