NORCAL / SOCAL MEET
#1

we've talked about it - we tried it last year - time to revisit this and make it happen - looks like we have a shot at really maiking this work this time

paso robles was the place chosen last year and it was a blast - great food, great drive, great wines - woohoo!!! it's a perfect location, as it is almost exactly half way between norcal and socal

there are 2 dates that the winery is hosting events - they are August 27 and Sept 17 - here is a link to those events: http://www.tobinjames.com/events.asp

we can work our meet around one of these, or do it independently

what does everyone think? let's get hopping on this

Unfortunately I am unavailable for both dates. One date I'm in Seattle and the other I'm in Italy. If the above dates should change then it could be a possibility. Good luck and wish I could be there.

When is the German Auto Fest?

August 27 is the weekened before finals week...and September 9-17 I'll be on a Yosemite hike/camp/fish/do your business in the woods, tour. I prefer August 27th. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> (...it's no italy <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )

i'm actually considering bumping this back myself now - with the denver run next week, and the german autofest the 11th, this is problamatic

let's bounce around some dates

late September, early October might be a good time - hey, by then even the temperature in Paso Robles should drop below 120 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> .

Ok, how about October 1st , or the 15th ? That's hopefully far enough in advance not to conflict with too many folks' pre-scheduled commitments ?

October 1st is the Ledson Winery Concour (PCA Zone 7) but the Oct. 15 is good for us! I'll keep watching the board. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Well, from Paso Robles it's not so bad ** <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

What sayeth the SoCal contingent ? After all, there's the added incetive of the RACE and the new Porsche introduction.. ..worth a few extra miles, no ?

** reminds me of an old joke about this suicidal guy who jumps from the 50th floor of a high rise and with at every stage on his way down he has second thoughts and keeps praying for something to save him from certain death.. as he drops past the last ( FIRST ) floor he says to himself : " Whew, thank God, I fell from this floor before and only twisted an ankle.. "

So if you drive from L.A. to Paso Robles, the trip to Laguna Seca is a mere floor away ( proportionately speaking..) <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
